It's sad that stuff like this happens every day because of breeding, overpopulation, greed, and awful owners. Remember, they are not just pets they are family. They are a lifetime commitment. We will never stop advocating. We will never stop trying to help. We will never stop trying to find animals their forever homes. We will be relentless, because we have to be. You may be gone, but you are never forgotten. RIP Amaretto.

Pets should definitely be allowed to fly in the cabin.

Angel is a Bengali cat who travels around the world with her family. Due to the fact that two animals died during a flight – one because of the cold and the other because his cage was hit by other luggage – Angel has started a campaign for all animals to travel in the cabin...
The slogan is: "we are not luggage, we are living beings". Due to her large number of followers, this 15-pound cat hopes to make a change..
For now, a good way to help her is to spread her campaign and her slogan ...WE ARE NOT LUGGAGE, WE ARE LIVING BEINGS!!

Shelter/rescue peeps (probably more so Indy friends, as they are not having luck here in central Illinois, and they are willing to travel).

Just putting some feelers out there…

Local professional/business owner is looking for a canine companion that can go with her to work every day. She operates a small intimate salon (1 client at a time) in downtown Urbana. These are some general requirements:

-Smaller breed that is easy to travel with. Must be comfortable riding in a car, possibly for extended periods of time.
-Between roughly 2ish-6ish years is ideal.
-Likes longer hair breeds. Would love a Pom, but if they fit the requirements they are open to other small long hair breeds!
-She does not have other animals, but her family has a dog and will be around them often.
-Higher energy is OK, as they are willing to do obedience training if necessary, but is not interested in a puppy.
-No breed or weight restrictions.

She would love to do a meet and greet, so work your magic and PM me if you have any suggestions. Thanks! ✨🐾

Sad but true

Simple Analogy—Why we can’t save them all…

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog.
When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water gets to die.

Every day rescue adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues and shelters are the tiny Rescue Boats.

The Ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and a$$hats who won’t spay/neuter.

You never know when that emotion is going to hit. Sometimes you could be doing the simplest things like putting a bracelet or watch back on and it just hits and then you want to cry.
