We wanted to give a quick update on Max. He had his MRI & neurologist appt on Thursday.
Max has some complex issues going on.
He has severe osteoarthritis in his hips. He has multifocal myelopathy (similar to ALS). He also has severe hydrocephalus.
We are waiting for the results of his CSF analysis, which we should have early next week so we have a full picture and can determine what our next steps are.
For now, Max has been started on an arsenal of medications to help with pain as well as reduce CSF production while we await the remaining test results.

We have raised just over half of the cost of Max’s care, and we are so grateful for the support of so many!

We will update you all as soon as we have all the information in hand. ❤️‍🩹

Who has been here the longest? 🤔

As far as available cats go, that would be Hiro.

Hiro is a 4 year old neutered male who was returned in May, 2023 when his owner could no longer properly care for him. That means Hiro has been at the shelter for about a year and a half.

Hiro came to us very stressed, anxious, and scared, and he acted as such. It took a long time for Hiro to come around to staff. Now that he has, and we’ve learned his personality, Hiro has become a favorite to those who know him best.

Hiro is clear about what (and who) he likes. He doesn’t do well with kids, dogs, or young kittens. While he is mostly okay with other adult cats, sometimes even napping with them, he does tend to keep to himself.

Hiro loves snacks, catnip, chin scratches, and is even okay with being picked up and held. He’s not a lap cat, but he can be really affectionate most of the time.

Hiro will need a patient, quiet, and respectful home with experienced cat owners that can understand and recognize his signals and needs. Hiro would not do well in a busy, active home as loud noises and crowding is one of his main stressors.

🔗 If you think Hiro could be a good fit for your home, the link to our adoptions application will be posted in the comments ⬇️⬇️

🦃We haven’t had any interest in this spunky little guy! 🦃

🏈Chachi is a 1 1/2 year old Jack Russell mix. He weighs around 25lbs and is as fun as he is cute! Chachi would love to go hiking, play in the backyard, or watch football and eat snacks with you. He will keep your spirits uplifted and help motivate you to get up and go! 🏈

🍂Chachi will need to be an only pet and will do well in a home with children 15 and older. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed. His adoption fee is $300🍂

Check out Weasley! He is the cat with the most votes in our Furever Thankful Photo Contest. Here is what his family has to say about him:

“We adopted Weasley from Rosie's in September of 2022. I knew he would be one of my great loves as soon as I saw him. He was a small, skinny, wispy haired fellow and my husband laughed at me. Needless to say...he filled out. “

We have been hit with some major vet bills and by voting and entering the contest, we can continue to say “yes” to dogs and cats in need. Thank you! See link in comments.

We will update you all as soon as we have all the information in hand. ❤️‍🩹

❤️‍🩹Max needs our help, we hope our supporters will consider helping us help him.❤️‍🩹

Max was returned to us after nearly 4 years. The owner told us he was being surrendered due to getting under her feet, tripping her, and overall just being too much dog for her.

When Max arrived it was clear there was something terribly wrong with Max. He is not the same dog that left here years ago. He is horribly painful in his back & rear legs. He seems to be visually impaired, and somewhat neurological. He isn’t sturdy on his feet and we need to figure out what is going on. At 7 years old he also has horrible dental disease and needs care there as well.

A quick search of his adopter’s page shows she knew he had these issues. She had created a Go Fund Me in 2022 to raise funds to get him seen for seizures (which we have not seen him have yet). We have no vet records for this, owner denied this when we asked her, and he was not sent with any medications when returned.

Max had an initial consult with a neurologist & has an appointment this Thursday to have an MRI done. Please help us get Max the care he deserves.

It’s not easy for us to feel that we failed a pet we adopted out, but we will do our best to make things right for this beautiful boy.

His medical care is going to be A LOT. We are looking at $3800-$4800 just for the diagnostics this Thursday.

❣️If you can’t donate PLEASE consider sharing Max’s story. You never know who this might reach.❣️

✨ MAGGIE ✨

Maggie (female, 6 years old) was found outside as a stray, skinny and stained from time spent outside. The first photo is how Maggie looked when she first came in, and the other is her now…❤️‍🩹

Despite her rough start, Maggie has been nothing but friendly from the moment she came in! She’s now clean, has gained some healthy weight, and is ready to find her forever family.

Maggie is a bit nervous when meeting new cats, but she doesn’t seem to have any real dislike towards them. We’re unsure how she is with dogs, but with a little patience, we believe she’ll thrive in any loving home.

🔗 If interested in meeting Maggie, the link to our adoptions application will be posted on the comments ⬇️⬇️

❣️❣️Please share Lena❣️❣️

She is in a foster home, but her foster can not keep her forever. She will not do well at the shelter with her asthma!

Lena has been in a foster home for a few months now. We need to find her a forever home.

Please ⭐️SHARE⭐️ & let’s find Lena a home!

A few months ago we asked for help with medical care for Lena. Lena had to be rushed to the ER due to struggling to breathe. We learned that Lena has feline asthma. Lena was transferred to a loving medical foster home so we could get her medication regiment down & now that she is regulated on her meds, she is ready to find her forever home!

🌸Lena is very sweet, affectionate, and playful. She loves to play with wands and solo toys. She uses a horizontal and vertical scratcher very well. She has a quirk..she loves affection a little too much and if ignored will bite for it.😜

She is easy going & takes her medicine very well. Medicine time requires treats before and after treatments, which she expects. 😊

Her favorite hobby is chatting at birds in the window. She prefers to sleep in a closet or under the bed when foster mom isn’t home. When she’s home she will sleep in her cat tree or on a pillow next to foster mom’s head.❤️

🌸She a great girl and will make a great addition to her new home!

Lena requires a daily inhaler as well as an emergency albuterol inhaler in the event she were to have a flare up. The ideal home for Lena would be a home with clean air as cigarette smoke, candles, & harsh cleaners could cause an asthmatic flare.

Please SHARE & help us find Lena a home.

ADOPTED!

🌟Someone is missing out on this sweet girl. We know she isn’t tiny, but she is soo sweet, quiet, gentle and loving. 🌟

🍁Joanie is around 15lbs, and came to us after we suspect she was dumped at a park. She has been the best girl at the shelter, patiently waiting for someone to notice her. She gets looked by in the kennels, because she is usually curled up in the back of her kennel, so please if you come to look at dogs, ask to get her out for a bit. 🍁

🦃Joanie is good with cats, dogs, and gentle children. She is around 3 years old. PLEASE SHARE Joanie and let’s get her home for Thanksgiving! 🦃

💛🧡She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $400💛🧡

If you would like to meet Joanie or any of our available pets please follow the link below ⬇️ in the comments to our adoption application!

ADOPTED!

👑Look at this perfect little princess. 👑

🌻Bailey is used to a life of being spoiled. She has been a good companion for 11 years. Unfortunately her owner could no longer care for her, and she finds herself in her golden years looking for a new home. 🌻

🍁Bailey is an 11 year old Bichon and Poodle mix. She is just darling and is well trained. Bailey will need a quiet home with older children, or a home with visiting children, where she can live out her senior years in tranquility. 🍁

🍂Bailey is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $300🍂

If you are interested in meeting Bailey, please follow the link 🔗 below ⬇️ in the comments to our adoption application.
