The Pony of the Americas Club, Inc., was founded in 1954 by a Mason City, Iowa, attorney, by the name of Les Boomhower. His vision was to create a child’s size mount that was calm, intelligent, versatile, and sturdy enough to last all day. Les thought the Appaloosa type color would make them really stand out, and thus the POA breed was born. Les and other founding members established the POAC regi

stry and started inspecting and registering breeding stock. Registration #1 went to Les’ stallion, Black Hand. The POAC was incorporated as a non-profit corporation. Its early members worked diligently to spread the word about this new “Using Pony for Youth”, the POA! From these humble beginnings in the Iowa heartland, the POAC, Inc. has evolved into one of the major pony breeds in the country. The club’s activities are very family oriented. While the focus remains on the youth, there are now programs for all ages to participate in. POAs are truly an equine the entire family can enjoy. Now numbering over 50,000 registrations, POAs no longer have the “pony” look or movement. With an infusion of some of the finest bloodlines that the Quarter Horse and Appaloosa breeds have to offer, the modern POA looks and moves like their larger counterparts. Measuring up to 14 hands, they are the complete package for any horse lover. Our members are proud of our heritage, and excited about our future. Reminder that you had to be a paid member by April 15th, to be eligible to vote! Only the regions of: North East, Mid East, Mid West, and Rocky Mountain will have received nomination ballots. We are accepting resumes for the position of Executive Director of the Pony Of the Americas Club, Inc. The POAC is the national organization for the POA breed, and we invite you to join us in working to grow our breed into the future. We offer an opportunity for you to develop your skills and knowledge to result in successful performance in the role of Executive Director. Although the POAC is smaller than some of the other breed organizations, our members are enthusiastic about our ponies!
The position is expected to be primarily in-office in Indianapolis, with some opportunities to attend national POA events.
Please submit your cover letter and resume. Your cover letter should detail how your experience aligns with the requirements of this position. Salary negotiable, DOE.

Good news— we have a re established marketing and promotional committee. This committee is just din-o-mite and has hit the ground at a full fun. As you may have seen already it has some t-shirts for sale so you can advertise POAC National Congress. “ Get your kicks on Route 66”
Kent and Monica Rorick of Oklahoma are co chairs. We have Liberty Rose Onsager- Minnesota, Alesha Weir, Indiana, Dani Bishop - Missouri, and Lexi Yu-Arizona on your committee.

Good evening everyone,
I am very sorry but it is necessary to adjust the Congress Showbill. In order to not have 3 judges and 3 scribes spend an extra night in Tulsa, dine on POAC , and have no classes one whole day, we have had to flip flop the Wednesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 11 show schedule. By doing this the board showed fiscal responsibility and saved us somewhere between $3000-$3500. I know this is a bit of an inconvenience and for that I apologize, however, we are still 4 months out and hopefully if you need to alter your schedule you will be able to do so.
The days classes will be just switched from one day to the next. Versatility will remain on Wednesday, however, the McKenzie Gee award will need to be presented on Thursday.
Again, I apologize for this inconvenience and thank for your understanding. If I can be of any help please feel free to call, text, or email.

Good morning POA members
Your BOD had a very productive meeting last night. Let me assure you we are moving forward with purpose and thoughtfulness. Our discussion last night centered on Congress, upgrading the computers in the office, search for new leader of the organization, and establishment of a financial committee.
Allen Killion has done a super job getting Congress moving on the fast track. Management company is almost in place, job assignments made and we are moving toward a super Congress in July.
Darrin Schaefer is in contact with IT companies to get the best bang for the buck as we upgrade our office computer system. This will improve registration, communication, and the show program.
We are immediately starting a search for the replacement of Bill. We will be looking for someone who can successfully understand all phases of our office and help plan and run national events, and promote the World of POAC to the fullest.
Just before the stroke of midnight😀😀, we re-established a Finance Committee.
Beverly Tabor is the chair person. Members of the committee are Brenda Faulkner - Oklahoma, Hope Gerdes - Missouri, and Tracy Fila - Washington. As you can tell the committee covers east to West and in between.
As our year continues, we will be calling on the membership for help and assist us Thank you all for your support. If I or any member of the board can be of assistance, please reach out to us.

Good afternoon,
I am very sorry to come to you, the membership of the POAC, with the fact that Bill Harless has resigned as our Executive Director. We, as a board, will be meeting at the very earliest opportunity. Either this weekend the first of next week. I want to make sure the entire board will be available to meet.
I am so very sorry. I have spoken to Bill on numerous occasions in the past few days trying to iron this out. All we can do is regroup and move forward. The business of the club will definitely continue as it should.
As we now plan our path forward, I will keep to informed of what, how, when, and under what conditions we are progressing.
