🎓 Ziggie’s Graduation Celebration! 🎉

Meet Ziggie, a 5-year-old Maltipoo who presented to SEVN with weakness in his pelvic limbs. During his neurologic examination, we found that he could take a few steps on his own but was significantly weak and wobbly. His back was hunched and was painful. These signs pointed to a problem in the thoracolumbar (mid to lower back) spinal cord.

An MRI confirmed our suspicions, revealing slipped disc material at L1-2 and L2-3, the first two lumbar intervertebral disc spaces. Surgery was recommended and performed (left-sided hemilaminectomy L1-L3) to remove the herniated disc material and relieve the compression on his spinal cord.

We’re thrilled to share that Ziggie is now walking post-surgery and making fantastic progress! 🐾💪

Congratulations to Knox and his family! Knox originally came to SEVN after suddenly losing the ability to walk on his back legs. His MRI revealed a disc herniation in his mid-back spinal cord. Fortunately, he arrived at SEVN in time for surgery to restore his ability to walk, and now he is happier than ever!
