We’re thrilled to announce that Nikita has been promoted to Team Lead! In this role, she will take on key responsibilities, including serving as the managing supervisor on the floor, where she will delegate, guide, train, and oversee the daily operations of our ER/ICU services. As a Team Lead, Nikita will play a crucial role in keeping a finger on the pulse of the hospital around the clock, stepping in wherever needed to ensure exceptional care for both our patients and clients. We’re excited to see all the great things Nikita will accomplish in this position! 🐾

To conclude Vet Tech Week, we’d like to highlight the incredible Nikita! With seven years of experience in veterinary medicine, she has been a licensed technician for five of those years.

When we asked Nikita what inspired her to pursue a career as a veterinary technician, she shared, " I have always known I wanted to do something with animals. I bounced back and forth between being a veterinarian to an animal cop to a marine biologist. My senior year of high school I had an off campus class that required us to have an internship at a vet clinic. There I learned all the wonderful things a vet tech is/does and I was hooked ever since. I love that the techs are so hands on and I love being able to use my technical skills."

When asked about her favorite aspects of vet med, she said, "drawing blood and when I was in general practice, cleaning teeth 🦷"

As we wrap up this special week, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to every technician on our team and in our referral community. Your dedication to the patients and the community does not go unnoticed. We see you and we thank you 🐾

Our next spotlight goes to Talisa, our dedicated Inventory and Purchasing Manager. Talisa not only manages our inventory, ensuring that we have the life-saving medications and supplies needed for any situation, but also steps in to assist the team on the floor whenever necessary. She brings 28 years of experience in veterinary medicine and has been a LVT for the past year.

When asked what inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, Talisa shared, "I love helping animals. As a young child, I was always catching injured wildlife and trying to nurse them back to health."

Talisa also told us about her favorite aspects of working in vet med: "I enjoy nursing care, like placing IV catheters and drawing blood, as well as anesthesia and sedation. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a patient recover and reunite with their family."

Talisa plays a crucial role in our hospital, working tirelessly behind the scenes and on the floor. Thank you, Talisa, for all that you do to support our team and ensure we’re always prepared to deliver the best care! 🐾

Our next technician that we want to shine the spotlight on is Laea! Laea has been in vet med for 8 years- 3 of those being a licensed technician.

When we asked Laea what made her want to become a tech she said "Ever since I was a little girl I've had a passion for helping animals. They love you unconditionally and being able to make a difference in their lives fills my heart with so much joy. Since they can't tell us what's wrong, I'm the voice for the voiceless"

And when we asked Laea what her favorite thing to do in vet med is she said "My favorite things to do in veterinary medicine are anything related to clinical pathology, resuscitating newborn puppies/kittens, and removing porcupine quills!" Thank you Laea for being such a go-getter in the hospital and for helping so many patients 🐾

We want to shine the spotlight on Cass our tech trainer for Vet Tech week! Cass has been in vet med for the past 22 years (with a small break during Covid to be home with her daughter) and for those 22 years she has always been a technician!

When we asked Cass what made her want to be a technician she said "I always knew I wanted to be in vet med in some capacity. Originally I wanted to be a veterinarian but I’m glad I chose to be a tech instead because we get to do the cool stuff 😊"

And the always interesting question of what is your favorite thing to do in veterinary medicine, Cass said "My favorite thing to do in vet med is venipuncture and placing IV catheters. I love showing off my “vampire” skills! I also love learning new procedures and different ways of doing things. This field is ever changing and there is always something new to learn."

We’re excited to shine the spotlight on Kellie for Vet Tech Week! With around 12 years in veterinary medicine— 8 of those as a technician—Kellie brings a wealth of experience and passion to our team.

When we asked Kellie what inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, she shared, "I don’t have a defining moment when I decided I wanted to go into vet med—it’s just something I’ve always known, and everyone around me has known. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to work with animals. I’ve always felt my purpose in life is to help animals."

As for her favorite aspect of the field, Kellie said, "I love surgical oncology and abdominal explorations. Running the anesthesia and providing pre-op and post-op care for these surgical cases is incredibly rewarding."

This week is a truly special one in veterinary medicine as we celebrate Vet Tech Week! We're excited to shine a spotlight on our dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician, Kendra. With 8 years of experience in veterinary medicine, including 3 years as a technician, Kendra brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our team.

When we asked what made Kendra want to be in vet med she said- "Animals have always been a passion of mine from a young girl. I saved my first animal when I was a little girl and caught a chipmunk that my cat was chasing, trying to eat it. When I got my AVA, I knew that I would one day become a tech because I’m always looking to gain knowledge and skills." .

We also asked Kendra what is her favorite thing to do in vet med and she said " My favorite thing to do in vet med is to run anesthesia on foreign body surgeries or to help doctors come up with the best nursing care plans for critical patients."

Stay tuned as we continue to recognize more of our amazing technicians this week. They do so much for our hospital, and we’re excited to celebrate all they contribute! 🐾🐾
