We managed to survive a very difficult winter, barely. Between freezing weather, thieving neighborhood cats and a persistent raccoon, we have 5 healthy birds and 1 recovering nicely from a raccoon attack, all from our original flock of 20. Sadly it’s been rough. Raising chickens in the rural areas of Kansas seemed to be a lot less stressful. It’s a learning curve raising a flock in the city. We’ve installed a better coop door, locks, secured the run fencing and have plans to finish the rain catch system this next week. Come on spring!
