Our miniature yearling Brodie had his birthday two weeks ago.....my how time flies! He loves his turnouts with his sire and is easy to catch and lead. He is getting his fluffy winter coat just in time, as it is supposed to get down to 20 degrees later this week! Here is my dilemma......Brodie's testicles have decided that they want to live where it is nice and warm and have refused to descend. I wanted to sell him as a gelding as he is not registered and would only ask a little more than what his 'brain surgery' cost. Now we are potentially looking at the cost for his surgery being much more than I could ever sell him for.......or afford for that matter. After Gypsy's cancer, we are still making payments on our vet bill and will be for a while. Time is of the essence when dealing with cryptorchid animals, as their testicles can become cancerous tumors.
Here is my proposal.....If he would have a great home and would be gelded within the next 6 months, we would be willing to give Brodie to a forever home. He is going to make somebody a wonderful cart horse or friend, but his health is in jeopardy right now. I would estimate that his surgery will cost between $200 and $1000 (best and worst case scenario). One of his testicles is in the inguinal canal, so the cost would most likely be on the lower half of the spectrum.
Please let me know if you are interested, or know somebody who is interested.
I will post pictures of Brodie and information on his bloodlines later. He looks a lot like his older sister June Bug, shown above.
