Traffic Update:

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday September 18th, construction on the new roundabout at the intersection of SR 572 (Drane Field Road) and Waring Road will begin. Drivers should be alert to periodic lane and full roadway closures throughout the duration of the project.

Active detours will be marked, and for our visitors heading to the northside of the airport (to include airline passengers), alternate routes include SR 570 (the Polk Parkway) to Airport Road or County Line Road to SR 572 (Drane Field Road).

I have posted many times about the large and deadly Cane toad (AKA Bufo toad). There are lots of them around this time of year (rainy season). If your pet encounters and interacts with a Cane toad the impacts will be almost immediate. They release a toxin, and if your dog tries to bite it or carry it, they can become sick and die in as little as 15 minutes without proper treatment.

This Cane toad was spotted near MacDill AFB today eating dog food. Please do not leave bowls of pet food and water outside. It is exactly what attracts them and could lead to your pet’s demise!

These toads have no place in our ecosystem and should be humanely destroyed. Just make sure to properly identify the toad, as many toads are harmless and beneficial. I posted a picture on how to identify them in the comments.

“Change is hard but necessary.” Last week we said, “See you around!”, not “Goodbye”, to Dr. Sara. We’re excited for her and husband on their next chapter. She will be providing relief for veterinarians in the area that need time out of the office. We will miss her and we wish her all the best! Public Health Alert: Third Confirmed Case of Rabies

We are sorry to inform you that a third case of rabies has been confirmed in our area. This is a critical reminder of the importance of keeping your pets' vaccinations current.

What You Need to Know:

Rabies is a deadly virus affecting mammals' nervous systems, including humans.

It is primarily spread through the bite of an infected animal.
Vaccination is the most effective way to protect your pets from rabies.

Protect Your Pets:

-Ensure your pets are vaccinated against rabies and that their vaccinations are current.

-Avoid contact with wild or stray animals.

-Report any unusual behavior in animals to local authorities immediately.

If you have at least 6 months of boarding/kennel experience or are a Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA), we would love to hear from you!

Our dedicated team members are the heart and soul of our hospital, providing exceptional care to our daycare and boarding pets, including dogs, cats, and even exotic animals. Your responsibilities will include engaging in our enriching brush and play activities, ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our facility, bathing, medicating, and tending to each pet's unique needs during their stay. Additionally, you will provide invaluable support to other departments, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Hours of Operation:
-Monday-Friday: 7am-7pm (two shifts: 7am-2pm and 2pm-7pm; you may work one or both shifts in a day, depending on the staff schedule)
-Saturday: 7am-11am and 5pm-7pm
-Sunday: 7am-10am and 5pm-7pm

Just so you know, weekends and some holidays are required. If you work weekend shifts, you will have days off during the week to ensure a balanced work-life schedule.

S.W.A.T. Medic Training in Action! 🚨

We love our first responders and our heroic police K-9 officers! Our amazing CVTs recently hosted a hands-on training session for the S.W.A.T. Medics, showing them life-saving skills to use on police and other canines in emergencies. ❤️

From placing IV catheters to intubation, these medics are now equipped to handle any situation that comes their way.
