Happy Easter weekend everyone! We hope all who celebrate have a wonderful weekend. Please be mindful of your pets safety this weekend and keep all the fun Easter treats away from your pets. Keep goody baskets up and away! Especially Easter lily plants, chocolate, and plastic Easter grass.

March is Pet Poison Awareness Month! This is a good time to prevent potential accidents by:

Securing human and animal medications out of the reach of curious paws
Ensuring rodenticides are in protected areas and/or inside bait stations
Reminding all humans in your household that pets aren’t allowed chocolate, grapes, raisins, or sugar-free gum
Avoiding Lily plants inside if you have cats

Our clinic has been certified an official “Santa’s E.L.V.E.S.” (Emergency Landing and Veterinary Expert System) location. So while we won't be open to the public Sunday or Monday we will have important work to do!

In the event that Santa’s reindeer team needs to make an unscheduled Christmas Eve stop for sled repairs, refueling, or veterinary care, staff at this clinic will be available to provide needed assistance and ensure a safe and on-time delivery of Santa’s cargo

In a joyful announcement for children and animal lovers alike, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has declared that Santa's reindeer are healthy and all clear for their magical Christmas Eve journey.

On this we are featuring these four fantastic felines! All four of these cats are looking for homes either together or individually. They are all very good with other cats though we don't know how they would be with dogs. They are currently being fostered by one of our staff so if you or someone you know would be interested please reach out and we can put you in contact with them for more information.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! We will be closed tomorrow for the holiday but will return to normal business hours on Friday the 24th.

It is only 2 weeks until Thanksgiving! If your pets will be boarding or traveling over the holidays now is the time to make sure your pets have all the mediations and vaccinations that they need in preparation. As a reminder, Marketplace will be closed at noon on Wednesday, November 22nd and we will be closed all day on November 23rd to give our staff time with their family.

September 28th is World Rabies Day! We are very lucky here to not have a lot of rabies cases. However, it is very important to still be aware and actively doing all we can to help prevent this disease. Keeping your pet up to date on vaccinations is the best thing that you can do to help! In order to do our part, Marketplace does require all of our patients to remain up to date on their Rabies.

As we continue into pain awareness month we want to highlight some of the options that are available for pain management. We are so excited to announce a product new to the U.S. market for our canine patients with osteoarthritis called Librela. Today we wanted to focus on pain control options for our feline patients. By 12 years old over 90% of cats have some level or arthritis. If you aren’t sure if your cat could be showing signs of arthritis then this checklist could be helpful for you. The next question after we identify arthritis is what do we do about it since a lot of cats won’t take pain medications by mouth? Luckily we have an alternative to pills! Solensia is a once monthly injection that we can give to arthritic cats to help reduce arthritic pain and improve their mobility. If you are interested in discussing your cat’s mobility changes or want to see if Solensia would be a good option please give us a call.

Did you know? September is Animal Pain Awareness Month. Our pets will often hide early signs of pain. This month we will be sharing information to help identify hidden pain in your pets as well as feature different products that can be used to help. Think your pet is experiencing discomfort? In the United States, a pet needs emergency medical care on average every 2.5 seconds. While we never want our pets to experience an emergency it is important to be prepared when it does happen!
1. Be prepared! Make sure you know not just your regular veterinarians contact information but also the contact information and location of your local emergency veterinarians
2. Have a pet first aid kit handy with a list of any and all medications your pets take. Unsure what to include in a pet first aid kit? Here is a great resource for things you could consider including: https://www.aspcapro.org/resource/how-make-pet-first-aid-kit
3. Stay calm! If your pet is injured they may be fearful and if hurt they could accidentally injure you. Use a towel or a blanket to help move them to the car if needed.
4. Have a financial plan-we never want financial decisions to come between you and getting your pet the care that they need. Consider setting aside some emergency money for your pet or even considering pet insurance! We recommend all owners consider pet insurance and there are many great companies out there to choose between.
