If you haven't already noticed, our website has undergone some changes in "personnel." Phoebe and Banger have officially retired. Phoebe made it safely to my sister's home in Washington state this week. Banger isn't going anywhere, but his daily responsibilities have been reduced to dozing, sleeping, and napping 😀. The torch has been passed to our youngsters - Pepper and Molly, who have both passed all of their health clearances and been added to the website, so check them out.

Well, puppies are headed home this week and next. It's always amazing how quickly these 8 weeks fly by. This is a particularly bittersweet moment because this is Phoebe's 4th and final litter. She is retiring from Prairie Hills Retrievers next month to live with my sister in Bellingham, WA. I know she is going to love the change from mid-west waterfowl country to hiking and camping in the Cascades, but we'll miss her.
This is an amazing litter of happy, healthy, athletic pups. We are very excited to have found a wonderful sire to use with Phoebe and Pepper - Deacon (GRHRCH Thunderstruck Platte Valley Deacon MNH MH WCX **) from Platte Valley Goldens in Hershey, NE. What a handsome and accomplished boy! If you missed out on this litter, we will be using him at stud again next fall.

3-Week Update (already)! Phoebe's pups are active. Personalities are starting to show. They are getting to that fun stage now where they love to play with each other and with us. It won't be long and they'll be ready to meet their new families.
We have 2 1/2 week pictures. All of the pups are growing fast and getting stronger. They are an energetic bunch!
We have a pile of one week old puppies! They grow up so fast. I know if you're waiting to to take one home, these eight weeks seem to last forever. But for us, the weeks fly by. Each pup is quickly putting on weight and getting stronger by the day. Phoebe is a great mom! There are still a couple of boys available.

Final day of duck season with Bodin Wilson and Red (Prairie Hills Red Ranger).
It was a beautiful (albeit warm and windless) fall morning on the river today. We still have some small ducks hanging around our spot. Red got to make a couple of challenging retrieves of little birds that made it up under the bank. He did great!
The picture of the golden cottonwood tree doesn't really do it justice. We were hunting from a small depression at the water's edge as the sun came up. When it hit that tree, it lit up like a torch - like it was it's own source of light.
My nephew, Bodin Wilson, still has these two boys available. I've been able to spend some good time with them and each is loaded with bird dog potential. They were born 7/18 and are ready to go. Price is up for discussion. Finding loving, trustworthy dog owners is the priority at this point. If you are interested, I can put you in contact with Bodi. Here is the link to the litter pedigree. Well, it's hard to believe but we are at week 5. It's time to start picking out puppies. Well, we've officially changed location. Last week we made the move from Lexington to Kearney, NE. It was a crazy few days, and I've fallen behind on puppy updates - but everyone is settled in and all of the dogs (puppies included) are doing great. Rain's pups are now over 3 weeks old. Their eyes are open and they are doing almost as much playing as sleeping. Almost 😀
