Copied this!
If you bring your daughter to a rodeo, expect to come home the next day with a horse and three metal cans.
Give your daughter a horse and three metal cans and then she will want to barrel race. You’ll buy her a barrel saddle, followed by a breast collar, saddle pad and all the other barrel racing things.
Then she will ask to take lessons. So you will look for a local stables that teaches barrel lessons. After taking some lessons you will start to socialise with the barrel racing community...and then life as you know it, will end.
Before you know it, she will want to go to shows and rodeos… there will be no more lazy weekends watching TV. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible!
Every spare minute of your time will be spent driving your daughter and her horses around to every barrel race their is. And now your daughter is enduring a crazy addiction to practice for the next show every time you get home from one.
Your house may be a mess, and your car will be dirty. All because you took your daughter to a rodeo. Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold up chair. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence, new friends, learning new skills, having fun and getting dirty!!!!
You will be there the day she takes the first few steps around that metal can, you will be there the first time she has a super fast barrel run, you will be there when she gets her first ribbon, and you will be there to watch her make her first win. And those moments will make you SO proud. Other parents will congratulate you, but you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you on the horse, it’s your daughter. It's everything that SHE did, it’s everything that SHE achieved. And right before your eyes, your little girl will be transformed from the baby who bounced around on their rocking horse into an exceptional young horse enthusiast on the hunt for her next pro rodeo or maybe even the NFR!
When you let your daughter barrel race you give her more then just something to play around doing. You give her a sport, a talent, hope and dreams. Friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person and a place where they can push their limits. You give her bravery, courage, and memories. And she will have ALL of these things, simply because you took her to a rodeo!
Because you took your daughter to just one simple rodeo, you too will develop new lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the sport. You will have an entire barrel racing family because you gave your daughter the chance to follow her dreams.
Then one day, many years from today…she will be in her room and a certain trophy will catch her eye. She will pick it up and realise instantly that when you gave her the opportunity to barrel race, you also gave her a childhood that she will never forget. At this point, you realise that everything you gave up along the way and sacrificed was totally worth it…..
And its all because you took your daughter to a rodeo...
