Our dream of being able to purchase two shelters for our therapy horses has come true thanks to these amazing girls right here!

Huge thank you to Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and NW Indiana Troop 75643 for raising funds to help us purchase two new shelters! We are so grateful for your support and dedication!

Interested in volunteering with us? We have an upcoming orientation November 6th at 5:00!

We will provide an informational tour of the facility and explain the volunteer opportunities that are available. Come and meet some of our horses, see current volunteers and lessons in action, and get a feel for what it will be like to be a weekly volunteer at the farm.

Our barn is heated in the winter, and we have indoor heated spaces as well, so don't let the cooler weather deter you!

This is such a rewarding experience, and you will leave the barn every day feeling like you made a difference in either a two- or four-legged friend!

We caught such a sweet moment this weekend at Special Olympics with Legacy volunteer Lisa. She rewarded him with a cup of apple sauce after being such a good boy for his rider!

The bonds that are created between volunteers and the horses they are paired with is beautiful. Thank you Lisa for being so good to our big fur babies!

A special thank you to the volunteers in addition to Lisa that helped make our special Olympics team possible- Barb, Wendi,Monica, and coach Kaylin for preparing riders, volunteers, and horses for the event. We could not have done it without all of you!

New volunteers will be trained how to groom, saddle, and lead the horses in addition to safety protocols. We will teach you everything you need to know to be a part of our therapeutic riding sessions!

We are opening up registration for our next session of The Legacy Ranch Adult Life Skills program!

This program is substantially different from other day programs. Smaller group size, one to one assistance, a REAL house on property and constant activity! Located on 20 acres of farm property, participants have the opportunity to work on vocational skills each day they come!

We are so excited to announce that we now have our very own Action Trackchair thanks to a grant provided by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. This allows our participants to be mobile around our entire property, and it even has the capability to stand a person up. This all-terrain chair can go up and down hills, move in the sand arenas, and through uneven terrain seamlessly. Testimonial from a participant who uses a wheel chair: “I never thought I would be able to stand up, and look at a horse eye to eye since being placed in a wheel chair. Now I will be able to.” Dan, our PT had the honor of trying out the standing feature today! It is our mission to be able to provide as many services and options as possible to support anyone in need regardless of any challenges they may face. Thank you, Reeve Foundation, for making this possible!

Happy birthday weekend to our beautiful girl Rori! She turned 3 years old at 12:00 this morning! Aurora, “Rori” was born at The Legacy Ranch. We didn’t know that Meadow (her mother) was pregnant when we got her, but when we found out we were so excited! Rori was born healthy, and very vocal! Our staff took such wonderful care of Meadow and Rori during the birthing process and rang in the new year with such a wonderful gift! She is now almost as big as her mom, and she will continue to get larger! Happy Birthday sweet girl!
