Does your dog check in with you or keep going? đđśââď¸DM âBONDâ for our Off Leash Training Programs Solid Recall and Off leash Heel are taught so you can have a dog be reliable off leash to go explore and be out in nature with you. But the third biggest thing I look for is how tuned in is the dog with me when I allow them to go ahead or me. Does the dog stop and turn their head looking back at me or when I stop waking- does the dog stop and look to me for guidance and direction? To have a tuned in dog who will check in with you consists of working them through longline training to test them if they would keep going or stop when theyâre several feet from you. As well as implementing structure with rules and boundaries in the home, on the walk, and as you work around many distractions and in different environments. And being consistent in everything you enforce or wonât tolerate. This creates a dog who learns to be good choices from your direction and on their own. Youâll create respect, trust, and a solid connection with your dog. And therefore a dog who wants to check in as a way of respecting the invisible boundary and to seek guidance if preceding ahead is okay or you can provide direction to recall them back to you if you want. And that is when you know youâre have the ultimate bond with your dog! đ #dogtraining #offleash #offleashtraining #ecollar #hikingadventures #doghiking #dogadventures #socal #ladogs #ladogtrainer #losangeles #losangelesdogtrainer #sanfernandovalley #dogmom #frenchbulldog #boardandtrain
Dealing with Leash Reactivity can feel like a frustrating task with your dog. But you can help them through it by getting these things down first! đđť1. Work on house manners. Donât allow pushy stuff like rushing out crate, dragging you out door, addressing your dog barking out windows or at fence/gate, and not letting them be hyped up all day long. 2. Focus on mindset. Getting your dog in a calm space will help them be more clear minded to pay attention to your direction and guidance. Youâll start your walk out right with a calm dog who now is respecting your rules, following your lead and pace which creates a more connected dog to you.3. Work on leash work before going out for a long walk when every other dog is out walking. Having your dog learn to follow your directional changes (in the driveway, sidewalk, backyard)and shaping your dog to walk nicely by your side will make the walk alone a much better experience for the both of you. 4. Youâll now have a much easier time to focus on being aware to work your dog through moments when your dog starts to go into a fixation loading state of starring down, scanning, becoming tense/stiff body towards other dogs walking your direction by interrupting or correcting beforehand as you navigate and work them through their reactivity on the walk in the neighborhood, waiting to cross the road/sidewalk, or around a park area. Remember there is no quick fix to working your dog through their reactivity. Get this stuff down and youâll notice a huge improvement in your dog as you start to work through their reactivity. Stay tuned for Part 2! Weâll talk more on the moments to look for, how to address before your dog loads to prevent reactivity, and most importantly- Us the human side of it all! #dogreactivity #leashreactivity #reactivedog #leashtraining #dogaggression #mindset #dogtrainingtips #dogtraining #dogmom #losangelesdogtrainer #ladogtrainer #sfv #frenchbulldog #dog #ladogs #dogowner #petdog

Showing some vulnerability here! Even as dog trainers, we need coaches, too.Reaching out for help if youâre struggling with your dog will help as your dog trainer/coach can see where there are any missing gaps in your relationship you have with your dog and the steps to achieving the outcome youâre wanting with your dog.As a dog trainer, I help coach dog owners weather itâs one on one sessions or go home session after a board & train program. I can see where your verbal markers may be off, how you present yourself to your dog when communicating to them and be able to guide you and show you how to tweaks little things and the step by step process when teaching obedience, recall, or how to teach the boundary setting and building up the 3 Dâs of Place command. And letting you know itâs okay to not have the best days when training your dog. We all have bad days. But this is where you can see what adjustments need to be made for when working with your dog again. The biggest key it to not let it overwhelm you. Itâs okay to take a break and a breather to refocus and try again. And when working with your dog, the more you pattern and drill each step (and following through, donât give in to your dog), the more clear your teaching and communication will come into play so your dog can fully understand what youâre wanting from them. You got this! đđťReach out for help if you donât know where to start. What do we #dogtrainers mean by lifestyle approach training? Why is it more important than just obedience commands? Take a listen đ to find out some examples of what I mean how you can implement these into your dogâs đ daily life. Some of the biggest ones are:â˘No rushing out of crate â˘No rushing out front đŞ(set boundaries and work on door thresholds)â˘No running all over the house (teach calm behaviors)â˘No barking out windows or at the fence line â˘Utilize the crate/kennel when youâre home to prevent separation anxiety and allow your dog to relax away from youâ˘Set boundaries for the kitchen or a room in your homeâ˘Donât allow your dog on furniture(can be a privilege for good continued behavior and no seeing resources guarding in any way)â˘No sleeping with you on your bed(earned privilege like above)â˘Donât give your dog too much freedom to roam your house right away(use a leash for redirection guidance and watch your dog/puppy) These are some examples to not allow or what you can do instead as you work with your dog to set rules and boundaries while enforcing them so your dog have clear expectations in your home with your direction and guidance. Make your dogâs daily life more predictable by building up good habits for them to follow by to seeing better behaviors from your dog. I hope this helps! Need more help with your dog? Does your dog run out the front door đŞ when itâs open?If yes, then setting more clear boundaries is key to your dog understanding the rules of the house. Iâm working this pup through being able to be loose in the house calmly while understanding when the door needs to be open for a few minutes, he cannot just run or follow me out the door. This is great for when you have to bring groceries in, grabbing the mail, taking things to your car, ect. Setting a invisible line that he cannot pass when he is roaming free or putting him in a Down command that comes with an implied stay until heâs free to roam again. Impulse control and calm mind for the win! đđťNeed help setting more boundaries with your dog? Teaching your dog to walk on leash shouldnât take weeks or months long. Theyâre many approaches and training collars/leashes you can use to create a better walk with your dog. In this video, we go from flat buckle collar where Drac is pulling me and leading the way to prong collar. He can pull much stronger, too, especially when heâs overstimulated seeing other dogs or prey animals. Although itâs just out of excitement, heâs pretty dog friendly, but thatâs no excuse to drag me towards them. With the change of tool to prong collar, this is where the magic begins. And no, the prong collar is no magic trick đŞ. Itâs how you use it to make the walk effective with its directional guidance. How do we begin? We use leash work by teaching the dog what pressure & release means which is to follow me going all directions to the point where they naturally start to go into follower mode with you without as much leash guidance. Then you know you are the right track to creating the best walk with your dog. Once we have this down, now we can begin to shape the walk with a more connected dog.Keeping your leash short but loose will help to have good control and an easy way to guide your dog back into heel/loose leash position by your side when working on the walk with your dog.Adding in auto stops and directional changes can test them to see how well they are with following your lead. This is just a little video of Drac going from pulling to walking nicely by my side. Being only his 3rd walk so far with distractions of dogs and those pesky squirrels đżď¸, heâs doing a great job. I also decided to test him on loose leash walking as well. He did amazing! Not too bad for this once strong pulling beast! đđNeed help with your walk with your dog? Are you giving into your dogâs attention seeking? Do you follow through with commands you gave your dog or do you give in and allow them to break anyway?
Why the Place Command? The biggest reason is to have your dog learn itâs okay to be away from you at a distance in one area and not attached to your hip, following you around all day in your home which can create separation anxiety in your dog. Especially when you need to leave your home to prevent your dog from developing constant barking, whining, or destructive behaviors when away from you or theyâre out of your sight. This helps your dog learn to have some relaxation time and independence from you while theyâre in one spot(dog bed, cot, rug) as you go about your day. Youâll help your dog build up good impulse control, a calmer mindset, and for your them to wait for your direction and permission to be released from the command. Place command isnât just about creating separation from you throughout parts of your day, itâs also a great way for your dog to remain calm and control their urges when out in public to not get over stimulated to be too excited or go into reactive tendencies(barking, lunging, growling, chasing) when around distractions of people, other dogs, moving objects, small animals, and so on passing by. Remember, a calmer mindset is key for your dog so they can display appropriate, good manners in your home and out in different environments in the real world full of crazy distractions. Help your dog by giving them the gift of calmness and relaxation with Place Command.Need help with this? We got you! Here are the 4 reasons why you should Crate Train your dog. Take a listen đâŹď¸ 1. Potty Training & Routine This helps teaching your puppy to go on a routinely schedule when you take them outside and using the crate to not allow too much free roaming time to prevent accidents in your home. In between, you can do fun stuff like play, training sessions, walks, ect. 2. Calm & Safe space This allows your dog or puppy to relax comfortably in the crate like a den like space for them. Your puppy especially should be sleeping majority of the day so give them time to rest when you cannot fully supervise them out in the house. Of course, keep an eye on them in the crate, too! 3. Independence from youThis helps to prevent attachment and separation anxiety issues or behaviors from your puppy or dog. Giving them time to be in the crate away from you and not follow you around the house all day will help your dog learn to relax and not worry about you or whatâs going on during parts of the day when youâre home. This will allow your doc to remain calm when you do have to crate your dog when you leave your home for periods of time. Your puppy/dog wonât build up anxiety or have freak out moments when out of your sight or away from you. 4. Helpful for may other situationsThis means when you teach your dog to be calm and comfortable in the crate for periods of time, your dog be less stressed when you go on vacation trips while having to leave them behind in boarding kennel or at someoneâs house, or when you take your dog to the vet or groomers. Or maybe you want to take a trip and include your dog with you. Having them safely ride in the car by using the crate will prevent your dog from becoming over anxious, over stimulated, and not be bouncing around the car. Your dog can remain calm in the car by laying down in the crate and making it a better experience for both you and your dog. I hope this helps! Happy Training! đś Need help with your puppy? Yeah With Pepper(#deafdog), I was working him on Recall drills from cot to cot. This is to help him not just recall but follow me to guide him to Place or where I want him to go or do next. I started off with leash guidance to help shape Pepper to come towards me, follow me, and then guided him to the cot.Next was to test him without leash guidance only using body movement, hand signals, and Ecollar taps.Pepper did a great job! Weâre also working on him not being too antsy during recall drills by picking the leash up that at first would temp him to come off cot before I wanted him to. Also breaking up the pattern to not do recall reps one after another and mix it up by walking to other cot and then walking away or to middle area between each cot before going back to other to recall him helped him to stay more relaxed/still until I motioned to him to come to me and follow mode. Once we worked it all out, Pepper had more clarity in what I wanted from him. đđť #dogtraining #recalltraining #obediencetraining #obedience #offleash #deafdogsrock #deafdogtraining #ecollar #ecollartraining #trainyourdog #dogtrainingadvice #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingthatworks #gooddog #lovebyleading #losangeles #ladogtrainer #losangelesdogtrainer #socaldogs #sfv #dogmom #dAilydog #dogreels
