**Job Description**
We are seeking a dedicated, full-time salesperson passionate about reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care, excellent customer service skills, and a desire to help customers make informed decisions about the animals and products they purchase.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
*Customer Service*
- Greet customers and assist them with selecting the right pets and supplies.
- Provide knowledgeable advice on reptile, amphibian, and invertebrate care, including dietary needs, habitat setup, and species-specific behavior.
- Demonstrate how to handle animals properly and safely.
- Educate customers on ethical pet ownership, including the importance of proper habitats, feeding, and long-term care.
*Sales & Inventory*
- Maintain a well-stocked sales floor with essential products like food, habitats, accessories, and supplements.
- Upsell products by explaining their benefits and how they support animal health and comfort.
*Animal Husbandry*
- Perform daily health checks on all store animals, monitor their condition, and report any concerns to management.
- Clean and maintain enclosures, ensuring they meet species-specific requirements (e.g., temperature, humidity, substrate).
- Prepare and distribute appropriate diets for various species.
- Administer basic treatments or medications as directed by management or a veterinarian.
- Keep records of feeding, treatments, and any observed behaviors or health concerns.
*Store Maintenance*
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and presentable to customers.
- Regularly clean enclosures, store surfaces, and customer areas.
- Keep track of supplies and report inventory needs for animals and store products.
**Expectations**
- Passion for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, with a willingness to continuously learn about different species and their care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex care requirements in a customer-friendly manner.
- Ability to work independently, handling both customer inquiries and animal care simultaneously.
- High attention to detail to ensure animal welfare and store cleanliness.
**Qualifications**
- Previous experience with reptiles, amphibians, or invertebrates is preferred.
- Retail or customer service experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift and move supplies or enclosures as needed.
**Hours** Full-time (30+ hours/week), including weekends and holidays.
