Hi, I'm Simba! And I found my home with Rosie!
My life did not start off so well. I was the subject of abuse and neglect in my first year. I was never taken to see a vet. Abuse resulted in my femur being broken and now its shorter than on the other side.
I found my way out and got the help I needed. Thank goodness! The doctor said I seem to do just fine with my shorter leg. I am young and healthy at 4. I have had my shots and been neutered. I am also heartworm negative and on preventative so I am ready for my fur-ever home. I love everyone, kids, dogs, adults. I will need a little training as I am use to running in a fence on a farm with another dog, but I am attentive should learn fast. I walk well on a leash and do ok in a crate. I am hoping someone will pick me to be part of their family one day. I'm a bit of a ham, but I will be your best friend. People always look past us black dogs. We deserve a home too! Did you know its called Black Dog Syndrome? BLACK DOGS ROCK!!! So, If you are interested, just let the lades know. Fankie you, Simba

Willow found a wonderful home and has a great companion friend in Angel.
Super sweet and good with others. She had an injury to her hock last year which took months to heal, so after her rescue and vetting, it was advised that she not be ridden by adults, full time or do any heavy training. She has done amazingly well in healing while she has been turned out to pasture. Flat work would be good for her and we believe that she would do good with a young rider. She has been ridden before and said to pull a cart. She would make a great companion for someone as she is a lovebug.

STELLA
PAWS AMBASSADOR
This girl has been through so much in her life. I rescued her in 2017 from a breeding hoarding situation which I paid this girl good money to get her out. She had to have a C-section with her litter because of her small size. It took a year to get her body straightened out from stomach infections, mastitis, and skin infections. The girl was still using her to nurse other puppies after selling Stella's puppies. In early 2019, right as my father was passing, Stella began to have seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. After further testing and two MRIs it was determined that she had C.O.M.S... Chiari syndrome for dogs. I knew early on with such a rough start that this girl would stay with us and have the best life we could provide. Frenchie's have heath issues. They need to do something about all this breeding! She is now 5 and has recently had x-rays after feeling bad. Stella's x-rays showed that she has hip dysplasia, arthritis, and scoliosis with congenital spinal malformation. We readjust again to make life all we can for this little girl. She is happy and that's what matters.

TEX
SENIOR OFFICER
The JoVonne Foundation rescued Tex from my ex husband who refused to let me take him. He had steadily lost weight from malnutrition and lack of care. He was a gift to my daughter. The final straw came when he said he was going to shoot Tex because he had a bad tooth. With the help of the JoVonne Foundation, we were able to go rescue him and get him treated for his tooth issue. Now he is back with his rightful owner (my daughter ) and couldn't be happier living his senior life in the safety of his pasture. Thank you JoVonne Foundation!" ~Victoria
UPDATE: Tex is older now and not in the best of health. Prayers for him.

OUTLAW
HOOF AMBASSADOR
This is My Love. I didn't know at first, but he would stay with me. He came to us first. He had a big blue eye. An apparent old injury. We were looking at a possible tumor and so we started out with a horse who needed eye surgery. I am thankful for all the help we had during this time. He also developed an ulcer in the other eye, but after fighting hard, we saved it without major scaring. This boy is a lovebug. We made him a place for blind horses, but he is smart. He has a companion, another rescue and he does just fine. Even lets himself out sometimes. He can hear the electric fence in the other pastures so he has had no real barriers as a blind horse. He's a hard keeper like many others that come from the kill pen. But he has done amazing. I don't know how these horses end up in these terrible places and I just can not think about the fate of those who do not make it out! This TWH has captured my heart!
Update: Outlaw passed away on March 1, 2023. My soul was crushed and he took a part of me with him. He was fine and then he wasn't. His intestines became wrapped around his colon and after getting him to the hospital, ultrasound and pain, there was nothing more they could do. I brought him home and he is buried on our farm. Fly high boy!

Our Duke went to a new Foster, But he was Adopted on day 2 !!! YAY DUKE!!!
Duke was saved from the shelter when no one came to claim him. He is neutered and UTD on vaccines, but unfortunately he is heartworm positive. We have been working on slow treatment for him. He is 9 years old and we want to make sure he gets well and has the best life. He loves other dogs, kids, and people in general. He has been on a farm and doesn't seem to mind horses, goats, cows, etc. He would love to find HIS family, however If we could find him a FOSTER to adopt, that would be the best solution. He is extremely sweet, probably the sweetest dog ever! He does seem a little attached at times. I do not know what he went through before, possibly was abandoned, but he needs a person of his own for sure. He does good in the home as well and loves his toys and stuffed doggie that he thinks he needs to take to potty when he goes out. He does have trouble holding his licker also. Duke is a King and is living his best life!!!

MAC
THE ALMOST RAFFLED HORSE
I honestly can’t believe it’s been 1 year. I didn’t think this dream of mine would come true of owning my own horse. I kept looking and looking and didn’t think it was possible of finding one that I could call my own, just lease horses. How I got Mac is pretty funny tbh Miss Mandy rescued him and she posted him. We were not looking for a horse at the time, we stopped looking till dad saw Mac looked at me and said do you want to look at a horse and I was like of course. But what will mom say he was like we will put her in the car and not tell her where we are going so we went to look at him and it was love at first sight for everyone. I remember getting into the car saying when are we bringing him home. I love him but of course I had to go and ride him so we went back and May the 15th we decided we wanted him to be ours and brought him home May 20th. I was told so many things like I was making the worst decision, he’s a kill pen horse, he looks like a mule, he’s probably green and you don’t know how to ride so it’s a waste. I looked at that person and said I will prove you wrong so that’s what I did. Mac is amazing and I love him with my whole heart he’s definitely my heart horse. The bond that we have made is amazing, from not wanting to come to me to when I call his name he comes trotting up to me. The past year has been crazy with you but I wouldn’t change it at all and also today we are on our way to our first clinic Happy Gotcha Day !! ~ Mady

DAISY MAE - R I P
Daisy was one of the sweetest dogs I have had the pleasure of saving. She was a stray that we found in 2015. We searched for her family. She was smart and well mannered, so she had one at one time. She stayed with my son for a couple of weeks and then went to live with my father. He had Alzheimer's so we were there or had caregiver around the clock. She was so good with him. She slept at the foot of his bed. She would come in and my dad would tell us that a dog had followed us in. We told him that was his dog and he would reply that he didn't have a dog like that. She was a great conversation piece for sure. She was very calm, except during a thunder storm, which she cared nothing for. After my father passed, I brought Daisy home but it was difficult with the rescues I already had. She went to live with a sweet friend and caregiver of my dads who loved Daisy as her own. Every year they would tell us at the vet that Daisy is older than we first thought. A year after my father passed, she started showing signs of canine dementia. I thought what in the world is that. Can they be serious? I saw a bit of this when she was with me but I thought it was anxiety. We were in and out of the vet and her health started declining rapidly. Doing research on the subject and knowing that her quality of life was not there anymore, we said goodbye to this girl a year ago - June, 2020.
RIP Mae Mae
You were truly an angel

DUTCHESS - R I P
What can I say about this sweet girl. She was one of our first rescues. A true gem. She had a gentle soul and had been broke to death. She quickly became the momma after Jubilee and Alexa were adopted. She kept everyone in line and and yet had a gentleness for a small child to approach. We decide early on that Dutchess would remain and be our Senior representative. Last fall, she began rapidly losing weight. She was always a hard keeper, however this was different. We spoke to several people about feed, met with two different vets, even talked to a feed specialist, but nothing seemed to help. We added everything we could with no changes. Was it just the age or was something else going on. We had some test done, but In March we had to say goodbye to this sweet girl. The vets guess based on results was cancer. We did not want her to suffer. She was so thin and had slowed down. That was painful to look at and I'm sure would not be good for her any longer. RIP sweet girl. I'm glad
we got to love you in the last
few years.

This is one of the Frenchie groups I mentioned we like to help. This poor baby was hit by a car and surrendered to them. They need donations for a cart. If you can help, please send to them. Any amount is good. We will be sending something
also. Thank you!
Update: Yall did it! Thank you! We will be ordering it tomorrow!
Our sweet Buddy, who was hit by a car a couple weeks ago, is doing pretty good on two legs! Unfortunately, those two legs are back right and front left. As his nerve damage in his other legs continues to heal, we'd like to get him a bit more mobile and at least upright for his organs and bodily functions. We do get a discount, but a full body cart will run us close to $600.

Well Happy 2024!!! We have been rolling along this year taking care of the rescues we still have in our care. I have updated our description and added a reel of some of our rescues from the past few years.
I have been busy with is sending out donations this first quarter. It's hard not too with so much need. One passion I have is the frenchie rescues. People do not understand about the breed and how many end up in rescues. There are three that we donate to regularly, donate items for their auctions and from wish lists when needed. One of the groups in Florida did a list of Fosters and people signed up for a Valentine to buy for this year. Great idea! I have regular senior dog rescues also as well as others. We recently purchased baby dolls and puppies for a nursing home project for memory care. Such a special project and close to my heart. We are always collecting shoebox items for Operation Christmas Child as that is another special project we do.
We have donated to two special go fund me projects this year regarding missing persons that are unusual cases. So many people are going missing and DV is on the rise.
Coming up will be our annual vetting for our rescues in April and Hay for horses in May. We harvest our own and have provided some to others whenever possible.
We are fully volunteer and 💯 of every donation goes to something!
I personally put a lot into this as well. If you would like to donate to something specific or just our general fund, we have several ways to donate on our page.
Thank you so much for your support through the years. We are small, but we have been making a difference and changing lives. 💜

UPDATE where we are, where we have been...
Greetings from the JoVonne Foundation Inc.
Well this year is moving along quickly. It has not been an easy one for sure.
I lost my beloved 14 yr old dog Cowboy in February who was suffering from dementia and muscle degeneration. Then in March, out of the blue, our Ambassador Outlaw was down in the pasture. He was a choke horse so we were not sure what was going on. We got him up to walk, called the vet to come, brushed him to keep him calm, and waited .The vet said it's not colic and he's not choking, I think it's something else and we need to get everything out of his stomach. We ended up having to trailer him to the vets office. We got him there and he was not doing well. They gave him meds and took blood and got him set up. I left to head home an hour later and got a call after they did an ultrasound. She said turn around, your boy will not make it through the night. I don't think we can even keep his pain level down. I sat on the side of the road a few minutes to gain my composure then drove back to the vet calling my son. His intestines was wrapped around his colon and he was not well. We said goodbye. I'm still struggling with the how and the why? 💔 We brought him home and he is buried behind his barn! That's where he belonged. With his friends!
We have finished our Hay for Horses project this month. My son Farms and helps another man.
We are still donating what and where we can. Donations coming in are minimal. I do donate items as well for Canine auctions to a few groups. We just moved back to our small shop. We tried a shop in town but there were issues with the building that the landlord would not fix.
Max & Stella's Barking Bowtique has their own page now and proceed help support JoVonne. Check them out, like the page, and shop!
We are still caring for Agniss, Ernie, Archer, Cody, Tex. Agniss has her own cows now. She is very happy. These are the last of the 19 rescued/saved. They are home, we are likely done. At least for this chapter. A heart (and wallet) can only take what it can take!
There is still good to be done and I have a thought for the future. As for now, I have a summer journey to embark on that I have been putting off after losing my parents and other things, so it's time to finish up and close that book now.
Happy Memorial Weekend Folks

Some of our sweet souls that have been part or our rescue. 🩷🩵
The JoVonne Foundation was originally set up in Memory of my mother who passed away on November 6, 2014 of Lewy Body Dementia after only 5 months of illness and in Honor of my father who suffered from Alzheimer's since 2010. These are both life altering illnesses to experience! They both had a love for helping people, whether lending them a personal hand or donating through many charities. My father lost his battle after falling, which shortened his journey and it ended on February 26, 2019.
I have been a volunteer for much of my life, giving many years to animal rescue, outreach and other community services. I grew up serving the community through church in missions outreach as well. My son has also been a big part of helping others while growing up and has served as a volunteer fire fighter for the past 12 years. He is now an EMT/fire/medic and spent the past few years helping care for his grandfather and grandmother along with me and our family of caregivers, and is a part of community outreach.
Through this Foundation we hope to make a difference in the lives of others.
Our main goal is helping others both hands on and financially as allowed. We have many opportunities where we can make a difference right here in our own community. It may be that we collect items for a person or family that is having to start over again. We have even helped purchase items to take to someone such as a bed, sofa, dresser, or table. We have helped a single mother with a small down payment on a car for transportation to and from work. We have helped buy Christmas for a family. We love children, seniors and animals and make them a priority! We also donate to other 501(c)(3) charities and rescues where funds go to support 100% of the cause and Not to a salary. We help a lot of small non-profit organizations locally that are making a huge difference where they are. Sometimes it may be helping out with a turkey drive at Thanksgiving or it could be helping with a specific need for an injured animal that an organization is raising money for. We have carried on my moms love for operation Christmas child shoe boxes for Samaritans purse. Together we can make a difference!
***Here are some of the Organizations JoVonne has helped, donated something to, or worked with over the past few years. We added some names 20/20 as the best charities!
