Good morning. On April 29, 2024, W. King Street is scheduled for closure and a detour for approximately 30 days – weather dependent - from S. Tuskegee to S. Tennessee Avenue. This closure is to allow for major utility work and infrastructure replacement work from Elijah Street to Valley Avenue (underground utilities, sidewalks, repaving, etc) serving the Interwoven redevelopment project.

The currently closed block of W. John Street will be reopened prior to the commencement of this project.

We certainly realize the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. With the extensive amount of work, excavation and equipment required to perform the work, it is not safely possible to keep one lane open.

The detour will be posted with signage.

We love getting updates on some of the dogs that have been adopted, and seeing them thrive in their new homes !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Last August we adopted a dog from animal control, and we wanted to update you on how that turned out.

Pippin is bright, athletic and full of energy, so we decided to try her out on some dog sports. Just last week she won her basic title in FastCAT (lure chasing) and we can't wait for the next event.

Thank you again for approving this adoption!

In reference to a recent post that was shared involving 3 dogs, please understand that yes the dogs were ordered to be euthanized. However; there is more to the situation than what has been posted. There is information pertaining to the case that was not shared with certain parties due to their close involvement with one of the dogs. There were also things that were done by BCAC and the Investigating Officer that was not shared because it was an ongoing investigation, and it could have jeopardized the case. There were other things mentioned in the post that have no relevance to what the post is originally about, so they will not be addressed. BCAC has had many great working relationships with rescues in the past. Some fell off because of the rescue, and some were stopped because BCAC realized that a rescue did not have good intentions for what was trying to be accomplished.

We ask that before someone makes assumptions about what has been stated, that you do your own research. There is information that will not be disseminated about the case, as BCAC will not discuss someone's private business.

Also, if anyone thinks or feels that any ACO in any State or County does the job for the money they are sadly mistaken.

A quote that was made by a rescue regarding Animal Control facilities:
"People need to understand that it's doggie jail, and not the ******* Hilton".

Pizza and Pups Adoption Pawty.
Saturday, April 13th from 11am to 3pm.

What’s better than a good slice of Pizza? How about visiting shelter dogs, maybe adopting one, and then enjoying that good slice of pizza!

Berkeley County Animal Control has been running on full kennels. We want to help find furever homes for their shelter dogs, so we are throwing them an Adoption Pawty.

👋 Stop by.
🎟️ Enter our free raffle just for showing up.
🐶 Walk through the kennels and meet the shelter dogs.
🥰Maybe ADOPT
🍕Then before you leave, grab a free warm slice of pizza and a cold drink.
♥️ Sounds like a good time and a good chance to change the life of a shelter dog.

Please note:
🐾Berkeley County AC has waived adoption fees.
🐾RMWV will provide spay/neuter through our vet for each shelter dog adopted free of charge. (Saving you hundreds!) However, $50 is payable to RMWV (by adopter) at the adoption event, which will go towards rabies vax and microchipping to be done at time of spay/neuter surgery.
🐾After adopting, dogs will stay at the shelter until they get neutered/spayed. (Which we hope to do within a few days of adoption event) Then you would come back to pick them up once done.
🐾First 10 dogs adopted will also receive an adoption kit, including items to get you started with your new canine friend.
🐾If you have other dog(s) at home, please bring them in for a meet and greet at the event.

We hope to see you there! 😍
