I spray the yard with an all natural concentrated cedar oil to keep away fleas, ticks, etc. and the dogs love the scent so they like to 'roll' in the grass to get the scent on themselves.

Today I worked on the 'tower of tires' obstacle course for the doggies. I have to get some outdoor acrylic paints to paint them all, but you get the idea. I need 1 more piece of plywood to cap that last single tire where the 'ramp' is right now.

And yet ANOTHER batch of Craig's Doggie Treats are done. Liz Lewis , you can come pick up your baggie anytime you like! Thank you for your patience and I hope your doggie(s) loves them.

Good morning all! I'm still working on the label for the bags, but I think I've nailed down package and pricing. The bags you've all seen me use in this post and previous posts are the bags I will use for the doggie treats. They will be filled with 10oz of treats. By default the treats will be smaller in size, but if your fur-baby is large or likes larger treats, I will mix larger ones in. So at $1 per ounce, we're looking at $10 per 10oz baggie. YES, I know there are many treats on the market that are less expensive, however, LOOK AT THEIR INGREDIENTS. You get what you pay for. And your fur-babies become what they eat, so feed them junk and their health will follow suit.

The treats I make are ALL NATURAL. There are NO PRESERVATIVES in my Doggie Treats. SO, that means sitting out on the counter (in their bag), the treats will stay mold-free for almost a week. In the refrigerator, they should stay good for about 10 days. IN THE FREEZER is where I keep mine because they'll last as long as there's no freezer burn (weeks). I made it part of my morning routine where I take a handful of treats out of the freezer to use for the day (remember I have multiple doggies). In some of the photos below, you can see the exact peanut butter and wheat flour I used, I show this so you can see some of the ingredients I use. I will not use junk. I will not use anything considered unhealthy, or anything that I would not eat myself.

I doubled up on the recipe of "Craig's Doggie Treats" (recipe can be found in an earlier post, no secrets here), and this batch made just shy of 2 pounds of treats. That allows me to make 3 x 10oz treat bags :) (I originally was going to do 15oz bags but it's too much per bag)
I baked these (see photos) at 300 degrees (lower than last time to help preserve nutrients and ingredients), 25 minutes, and I would definitely consider the treats "soft" and/or "chewy". The larger paw print treats I baked for an extra 5 minutes, so they seem a little drier, but none are 'crunchy'. Next batch I will bake them longer, for at least 30 - 35 minutes or until they come out crunchier.

WOW, I had no idea how many 'dog treats' on the market contain BHA as a preservative. I am not sure if you know this, but BHA is BANNED in the EU, Canada and Australia. : "BHA is known to cause cancer in rats and is 'reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen.' Both BHA and BHT have been linked to impaired blood clotting and promoted tumor growth."

SO, needless to say I will be throwing away ANY treats I have with BHA in them, and I will ONLY be feeding my babies my own homemade dog treats. ........ "Craig's Doggie Treats". As the 'recipe' presently stands, I am sending off samples to be tested for the "Guaranteed Analysis" label. Although I do plan on having different 'recipes' and 'flavors'. ......... Here is the first mock-up of what the packaging MAY look like for "Craig's Doggie Treats".

I had 2 awesome Meet N Greets today. Here is one of them, this is RUFUS (he's 80 pounds). Although his size may be intimidating, he is one of the most obedient dogs I've ever come across. His 'daddy' did a very good job of training him. What a gentle giant

It is beautiful outside today. Sunny and in the 50's ... Doggies are loving it.
Maybe it's time to break out the outdoor furniture?? The girls think so!

Just made a batch of new doggie treats. I found this recipe on 'Saving Pets One Pet @ A Time' FB Page. Now that I've made them, and the doggies love them, I will may double the recipe next time. One thing to note is that there are no preservatives in this recipe, so my guess is the treats will be good for 1 week at most (unless frozen).

Recipe (as seen in photos) :
1 Large Banana
1/3 cup blueberries
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1/4 cup plain no fat yogurt
1 tablespoon honey
2 eggs (including shells)
1/2 cup wheat flour (do not add right away)

- Add all of the above (except wheat flour) to blender, and blend until smooth.
- Once mixture is smooth, begin to add about 1/2 cup wheat flour, blending as you add it until consistency of thick pancake batter.
- Pour/scoop into molds.
- Bake at 350 degree for 15 - 20 minutes. (Less time (15min) for a softer treat, more time (20) for a harder treat)

Oh, and the molds I use are just regular silicone pans I got on Amazon.

Preparing their lunch (see them waiting patiently in the photos). They eat a combination of Carna4 Lamb Easy-Chew, and RedBarn Naturals Chicken Roll. ... Both are very high quality and as close to a raw diet with actually going raw, feel free to look them up. (They are both expensive but are worth it IMO because of their natural ingredients and the way they are processed)
I sometimes will chop up carrots and broccoli, and sprinkle on top.
(The dog's meals are broken up into 2 larger meals, and one small one. What you see in the photo is their 'lunch'. I feed all 8 of them at the same time)

Just after lunch, the doggies go out in the back yard to do their business, run around, play, sniff, dig, ... and these girls are asking me "Dad, winter is almost over, when will you bust out the deck furniture so we can lay on the couch?"
PS - It is only about 40 degrees here today, so it is just a tad chilly.
