Every year on the second Tuesday in June, World Pet Memorial Day offers a time for pet owners to remember the furry companions that have passed away. It’s also a day to do something kind for those who have recently lost their beloved pet.

It’s no secret that people love their pets. And rightly so. These wonderful creatures provide companionship, emotional support, and lots of joy. Pets are also beneficial for one’s health. For example, those with pets have decreased blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Additionally, pets provide increased opportunities for exercise.

Not surprisingly, dogs and cats are the most popular pets in the world. According to recent stats, over 470 million dogs are kept as pets. There are also over 370 million pet cats. While some pet owners prefer either dogs or cats, some like to have both. No matter what kind of pet a person has, these animals quickly make their way into their owner’s heart. Because humans become so attached to their pets, it’s very difficult when they die. It can sometimes take several months to get over the death of a pet.

HOW TO OBSERVE WORLD PET MEMORIAL DAY

National Pet Dental Health Month

Dental health is a very important part of your pet’s overall health, and dental problems can cause, or be caused by, other health problems.

Your pet’s teeth and gums should be checked at least once a year by your veterinarian for early signs of problems and to keep your pet’s mouth healthy.

Have your pet’s teeth checked sooner if you observe any of the following problems:

- Bad breath

- Extra teeth or retained baby teeth

A fully socialized dog is not something that you can achieve overnight. Dog socialization is something that is practiced and reinforced throughout the dog’s life. Socializing puppies with other dogs, people and the world around is extremely important. Socialization helps raise a confident adult dog. Puppies go through a stage called “the fear imprinting stage“. This usually happens around the 8 – 12 week period of development. During this stage, puppies are very sensitive to traumatic experiences.

ADOLESCENT & ADULT DOG SOCIALIZATION
Dog socialization does not stop with puppy hood! It must continue for life! Consistent and positive socialization avoids issues such as fear or anxiety around people and other dogs. Dog grooming!!! How to select a proper dog groomer?

Of course "Fluffy" is a valued part of the family. So how do you go about choosing a competent person to groom her?

It takes lots of careful handling to properly groom a dog, not to mention the precautions required around dangerous, sharp implements like scissors and electric clippers? A dog (or cat) groomer will be bathing you pet in soapy water and rinsing thoroughly. We surely aren't going to trust her to "just anybody"

1. Download PetsRWise app and go to Dog Grooming service, and see the full line up of groomer near you.

2. Chat with the groomer you are interested via chat. Ask him/her questions. Did you go to grooming school or apprentice with a professional groomer? How long have you been grooming? Do you have much experience with (insert your breed here)? Do you have a problem putting poodle feet on a cocker? (Or some other non-standard clip?) Are you a member of any professional grooming organization? There is a national organization called National Dog Groomers of America Association and many states have their own groomers' organizations.

3. Ask for proper certification. Some states require that groomers are licensed and certified in flea/tick applications. So ask if she or he is properly certified.

4. Be patient. Keep in mind that groomers are usually on an extremely tight schedule, see her/his schedule in the calendar management feature.

5. Trust your intuition. Just by asking around you will be able find answers to most of your questions. Using a groomer for the first time can be a disconcerting experience.
