The little brown bat can be a big issue:
Little brown bats are important for human health and the environment. They help keep populations of forest pests under control and eat mosquitoes, which can spread illnesses. They also help reduce the need for pesticides by eating insects that are destructive to crops and forests.
But:
The Minneapolis Animal Care & Control (MACC) is warning the Minneapolis community to be aware of bats and the risk of rabies that comes with them. MACC has received multiple reports of bats in homes every day, with some of them testing positive for rabies.

Minneapolis, Minnesota's rabies vaccination ordinance for dogs and cats includes the following requirements:
Rabies vaccination
Dogs and cats over four months old must be vaccinated against rabies and have a current certificate of immunization on file.
