“Shyann” (yes, pun intended… painfully so)

Allow me to introduce Shyann, a 2-year-old, medium-sized, “what even is she?” mix who is here to fulfill a very specific niche in the dog-owning community:

👉 People who want the idea of a dog without the inconvenience of… interacting with it.

What you get with Shyann:

* A dog that will not bother you for pets, affection, or emotional connection
* A dog that will not walk on a leash (because why would she)
* A dog that will grace your property with her presence like a cryptid you occasionally glimpse
* A built-in fitness trainer for your actual dog (she wrestles, she plays, she commits to the bit)
* A low-maintenance yard ornament that eats, drinks, and vibes

Her backstory (aka why you should feel guilty enough to say yes):

Shyann was trapped in Texas with her puppies. Her puppies were rescued, and she landed in a kill shelter. So yes, she has had a rough go and is now accepting applications for “nice human who lets me exist in peace.”

Personality:

* Not aggressive. Like… at all.
* Socially prefers dogs > cats > chickens > you
* Will follow your other dog everywhere like a slightly awkward little sister
* Will hang out near you… just not with you
* Occasionally shows off her adorable snaggletooth because one lip gets stuck and honestly it’s her best feature

Living situation:

Let’s be clear:

* She is not your city apartment, leash-walking, couch-snuggling dog
* She is a farm, acreage, barn, “come and go as she pleases” type of girl
* She’d thrive somewhere she can:
* Have shelter (barn/garage/kennel setup)
* Be with other dogs
* Live her best “I’m here but don’t perceive me” life

Current situation:

At my house, she:

* Comes in and out when the door is open
* Sleeps near the foot of the bed, on the floor
* Hangs out wherever I am… at a respectful, non-touchable distance
* Still cannot be touched unless she decides someday that growth is her journey

The sales pitch (really lean into this part):

If you’ve ever thought:

“I’d love to spend money on dog food for a dog I don’t have to pet,”

or

“I wish my dog had a mysterious sidekick that keeps them entertained while ignoring me,”

or

“What my farm is missing is a shy little ghost dog who minds her business,”

CONGRATULATIONS. This is your girl.

Adoption details:

* Fee: WAIVED (because we’re not delusional)
* Requirements:
* Be kind
* Have land/farm/space
* Have other dogs
* Be okay never forcing affection on her
* I can help transition her (kenneling initially, etc.)

Final thoughts:

She doesn’t need to be someone’s “perfect dog.”
She just needs a place where she can exist, feel safe, and slowly—maybe—learn that humans aren’t the worst.

She survived everything thrown at her.
It would be a shame if the only thing she didn’t survive was not finding a place to land.

So… anyone out there want a dog you don’t have to touch, train, or emotionally support… but will quietly exist on your property and make your other dog not be a lazy bum all day?

Update on Gloria 💛

Gloria did awesome. Truly.

For those who remember, Gloria is one of the dogs we rescued — the sweet girl who was shot in the face and somehow never lost her ability to love. She found her forever home with Kristin, who has given her the life she always deserved.

She did have to go back in this morning for IV pain meds because she was in quite a bit of pain overnight — which, honestly, isn’t unexpected with a surgery like this in such a high-movement area. But after getting her pain under control, she’s doing good all things considered and is resting.

The bandages you see are there to protect her from infection and to help prevent the kind of incision separation that can happen in areas like this. The surgery actually went even better than we hoped — they were able to take 2 cm margins all the way around both tumors, which is the gold standard for mast cell tumor removal.

Based on how she’s handled anesthesia in the past, we’re expecting lots of sleep and slow, steady healing over the next few days.

They’ll head back next week for a bandage check and change, and her sutures should come out in about 3 weeks.

She continues to capture hearts as “Perfect Gloria,” and I am so incredibly relieved she made it through — all four legs, zero tumors, and exactly where she belongs.

Kristin has shown up for Gloria in every possible way, just like she has for so many dogs she’s adopted from us over the years. Watching the life Gloria has now… it’s everything we hope for when we save them.

We truly cannot say thank you enough to everyone who has supported, shared, sent love, and donated to her care. It means more than we could ever put into words.

We have raised right around $2000 to help Kristin with Glo’s surgery. The surgery itself was $4000 not including any diagnostic visits. This also doesn’t include the $20,000 that Kristin has spent in the last couple of months with her other pets’ health issues.
If you’d like to help Kristin and Gloria through this rough time, you can donate on one of the links below.

If you remember Gloria… you know she’s a fighter. ❤️
This is the same sweet girl who was shot in the face—left with a devastating wound and unimaginable pain.
And yet… she survived. She healed. She found love.

Because of Kristin.

Kristin didn’t just adopt Gloria—she gave her a life most dogs never get. A life filled with safety, compassion, and relentless care. The kind of home every rescue dog deserves.

But now… Gloria needs help again.

She has been diagnosed with mast cell tumors in her leg, and while there is hope, time matters.

✔️ The good news: testing shows the cancer has NOT spread
✔️ The plan: surgery to remove the tumors and hopefully save her leg
✔️ The reality: the surgery alone is $4,000 (not including the extensive diagnostics already done)

Over the last 9 months, Kristin has spent over $20,000 in vet bills caring for her dogs—through illness, loss, and everything in between. She’s also self-employed, meaning every appointment is lost income on top of the bills.

And still… she keeps showing up for them.

Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

Gloria has already survived the unthinkable once
Let’s not let cost be the reason she doesn’t get this chance

Every single dollar helps. No amount is too small.

If you’ve ever loved a rescue…
If you remember Gloria’s story…
If you believe people like Kristin deserve support…

Please donate (and mention Gloria), share, and help us give Gloria the future she fought so hard for.❤️

We didn’t stop rescuing.
We just decided to go upstream.

For years, we’ve been pulling dogs and cats out of crisis—
sick, abandoned, unwanted litters, emergencies, kill shelters.

But here’s the truth no one wants to say out loud:

We will NEVER rescue our way out of this problem.

So we made a hard, intentional shift.

Unleashed Pet Rescue is now focused on Spay & Neuter Outreach and we've started with the biggest need, right here in Kansas City, Kansas—
because this is where real change happens.

✔️ Preventing unwanted litters before they’re born
✔️ Helping families keep their pets instead of surrendering them
✔️ Stopping suffering before it starts
✔️ Reducing disease, neglect, and overpopulation at the source

This work isn’t as “cute” as puppies and kittens.
It doesn’t go viral.

But it is EVERYTHING.

Every surgery we fund =
🚫 Dozens (sometimes hundreds) of future animals who won’t suffer
🚫 Fewer dogs and cats ending up in shelters
🚫 More families staying together

We’re still in the trenches. Just in a different place.

And we need you with us.
