Texas A&M University recently reached out to us here at Mill Creek Animal Hospital, offering us the opportunity to send them community samples to test for Heterobilharzia Americana infection in dogs. Those interested in submitting a sample can reach out and send an email to [email protected]. A shipping kit and label will be sent to you for your sample. They only ask that you sign a consent form and fill out an online survey.

This testing will help provide critical research on an illness that affected several dogs in our community in 2018. Feel free to reach out to us or The Drake Project for more information on this topic.

Carrot needed his beak trimmed, and it was an exciting time for all involved. While we aren't an exotic animal hospital, we always try our best to help our community when we can!

Big and small, we help them all! Today, we saw Peter rabbit and Rune the goat. Our talented Dr. Joy is also a large animal vet - and days like today make us so grateful to have such versatility available to us. It was a new challenge to help Rune, as he is close to 200lbs! Our staff will sleep well tonight 😴.

This week (& every week), we're sending thanks to our hero technicians. Being a veterinary technician is an extremely difficult and rewarding job. Our techs are the ones drawing blood, performing xrays, running diagnostic tests, trimming nails, vaccinating, assisting with surgeries, and SO much more. They treat your pets like their own, and somehow have an endless amount of energy and love every day. Remember to thank the vet techs in your life and remind them how vital they are to the vet med world. 💜

Remember to watch for signs of heat distress in both cats and dogs and seek out cooler places to recreate and relax. Have fun and be safe!
