Easter weekend is here & with it comes treats for us that can be dangerous for our pets. Animal ER of the Western Slope is here from 6pm Friday night straight through until 8am Tuesday morning should your pet find themselves needing veterinary care.

Spring has sprung! Which means…vaccination season is upon us as well!

If you are wondering what vaccinations your horse should receive, the answer is — There are no “one size fits all” vaccine recommendations. A veterinarian who knows your horse and your management system is your best resource to recommend what vaccines your equine friend should receive and with what frequency!

While vaccination does not prevent disease in all circumstances, a good immunization protocol minimizes the risk of infection and remains an essential component of responsible horse ownership. A vaccination appointment is also the perfect opportunity for a yearly check-up of your equine friend and a great way to catch any health concerns early.

If you have yet to contact your veterinarian about scheduling your horse's vaccinations, we encourage you to do it soon!

Due to the number of no-show appointments lately, and cancelations for Friday (11/24/23)— we will be open 8am-12pm.

We want to accommodate after-holiday emergencies the best we can, while also allowing our staff to have some extra family time.

It is very important right now that dog owners understand how significant this respiratory disease is! We have seen a lot of coughing dogs and it is very contagious. If we tell you we can’t do a “drop off” exam for your dog, it isn’t because we are being rude or don’t think it is important, it’s because of the contagious nature of this respiratory disease and we want to keep our hospitalized pets safe!

Please share this so everyone can be aware! If your regular veterinarian can’t see your pet, understand they may be very busy dealing with with equally urgent cases. It is up to you to advocate for your pet— take him or her to the emergency centers available if you are concerned and want immediate medical attention! We are doing our best!!

Good News from MVC!
We have a new part time associate joining us! Please welcome Dr . Susan Stone!

Dr. Susan Stone, a Colorado native, graduated from Colorado State University and has practiced most of her career in Colorado. As a small animal practitioner, she most recently established her own clinics in Castle Rock and Monument. Dr. Stone has relocated to more rural Montrose and lives with Joe Dirt, a senior Boston Terrier and Shorty, a 22 year old Pionus parrot. She loves downhill skiing, hiking, biking, gardening, and being outdoors whenever she can!

Please help us welcome Dr. Stone! She will be taking care of many of the small animal appointments, which will allow us to see things in a more timely fashion!

♥️We will be charging an annual fee of $25 to sign outside pharmacy prescription requests. (Chewy, Pet meds, etc)

💙Alternatively, we have our own online pharmacy that will be available at no additional fee.
