Our Certified Animal Control Officer, Brandy, attended the 2023 Florida Animal Control Association’s “Collaborate To Elevate” Educational Conference this past weekend. This conference provided a wide-range of educational information in providing Animal Control Services. 🐶🌎🐱

The GCHS Second Chance Fund has saved countless of animals' lives by providing hope through paying for medical costs and rehab. This fund has been vital in providing hope to shelter animals who have no one else to turn to.

The latest Second Chance Fund recipient is Tobias, who came to GCHS from Glades County. Tobias came in with one of the worst cases of mange the vets have seen, which caused swollen lower legs, cracking/bleeding skin and painful wounds inflicted from being outside for a very long period of time.

Tobias was also severely malnourished and was emaciated. In just under a week under the care of GCHS, Tobias' skin infection started healing and he started gaining an appetite.

But Tobias is not out of the woods, and still needs to put on much weight. His rehab will be long, but he will remain in GCHS' care until he is fit to be adopted.

That of course, costs money. Tobias is just the latest in a long line of shelter animals to be treated by the Second Chance Fund. Any donation will be a tremendous help in Tobias' recovery - and eventual trip out the GCHS' front doors and to his furever home!!
