Good morning to everyone. Wanted to update on the phone situation. Verizon said this morning that there is a main cable out and needs to be replaced. They are now saying that it will be at least Friday before repairs are done. Although beyond our control we are very sorry for this inconvenience. If you need to reach us here are some options. For nonemergency messages you can email to [email protected]. We will be monitoring emails. You can also leave a voicemail with the answering service. We will monitor these multiple times a day. For emergencies you can reach Dr. Engel much the same as after hours. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Just wanted to give an update. Apparently there is an area wide Verizon outage in our area that they say will be fixed by 2100hrs today?

Good afternoon! Dr. Engel will be out of town all day Friday and half the day on Saturday so he can attend his niece’s wedding. Good afternoon just wanted to let everyone know that Dr. Engel will be gone for the day tomorrow May 24. He has had a huge honor bestowed on him. He will be attending the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine graduation and has been asked to present the hood to his former student Becky Schulze. Dr. Engel will be back on Saturday morning. The office will be open regular hours tomorrow and for part of the day Bonnie will be able to reach Dr. Engel for telephone consultations. If you have an after hours emergency simply call our regular number and the veterinarian on call will be contacted. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Yesterday was one of those really tough days of being an equine veterinarian.
I had to euthanize a relatively young mare with a 1 month old foal by her side. They say that when one door closes another one opens and sometimes it's not easy to see that open door. Yesterday we got to see the other door quite clearly. I think the foal knew he was going to lose his mother and once separated from her wasn't very agitated at all. An hour and 45 minutes later and a huge thank you to Laura Phoenix of Nursemares of the Northeast, the foal took less than 1 minute to bond with it's new adopted mom. The other door swung wide open.

I think this all the time and I don't ever say it enough but I really do have the best staff ever. Thank you Katie , Bonnie, Megan and now Mia. I get to do what I do because you are in the background making it possible. Hearing the stories from others I do know how lucky I am.

Yesterday was a really long and stressful day but at the end of the day I got to meet this newborn boy. It was a pretty rough start for Momma and son but by 9 hours old everyone was doing well.

Today the weather wasn't always the best and a little crazy with appointments. How do you brighten this kind of day? Being able to not only go see one healthy newborn foal but I got to go see two healthy newborn foals.

Today was the definition of a great day. Nice weather, friendly clients and I got to spend the day with my oldest grandson Tanner and for the first time my middle granddaughter Austyn. Having them along always makes my day so much better.
