Giving is always in season! Through December 6, the Village of Mount Prospect and Mount Prospect Fire Department are collecting new, unwrapped gifts for kids up to age 17 through the annual “Toys for Kids” drive.

Older children aged 13 and above can be especially hard to buy for. Some great suggestions include gift cards, hoodies, hats and gloves, skateboards, lotion and body wash sets, backpacks/duffel bags, sports-themed gifts, or jewelry and hair accessories.

Collection boxes are in the lobbies of Village Hall and all four Mount Prospect Fire Stations. The gifts will be distributed to local families facing financial hardship registered with the Mount Prospect Human Services Department.

Naphthalene - an offending chemical found in some brands of mothballs - is toxic to dogs, cats and other animals, and if ingested, can cause serious illness, including vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, swelling of the brain tissue, seizures, damage to the liver, kidneys and blood cells, coma and even death.
