Something we always need to advocate for the welfare of the horse.
The desire and drive to wind: Awards , ribbons, plaques , the gold and the glory should never overshadow the welfare of the voiceless animal in your care!

In case you're asking yourself how it is so possible for abuse of horses to be so prevalent and enabled, even at the upper levels...

Or perhaps, you're even denying the existence of it in the first place.

Just like outside of the horse world, we have incredibly wealthy (billionaire) entities who own prevalent media companies and thereby have sway on what type of news is shared.

They also own show parks, websites like Showgrounds Live, equestrian brands and more...

And this is just referencing the businesses that are specifically OWNED by them, without factoring in the amount of influence having that amount of money to throw at your problems brings.

The level of fear a billionaire can bestow on people is silencing. They have the money and ability to utterly ruin people and so, they can, to a large extent, buy their innocence.

They can afford to "encourage" people to look the other way.

So, thank you to the brave journalist who went undercover to capture some of the horrors at the Helgstrand barn.

In order to make real change in the horse world, these entities need to be hit where it hurts: their pockets.

They can virtue signal and claim they're bettering welfare to their hearts content, but the only reason these things are being said is because they've been caught in the act in such a way that they need to do damage control.

So, who should you boycott?

Something I would like to point out: Patrik Kittel and Ludger Beerbaum are effectively owned by Helgstrand group.

Both of these riders have been caught on video engaging in training methods damaging to welfare.

For Ludger, it was poling jumpers (moving the pole of the jump up to strike a horse in the leg as they go over it), for Patrik Kittel, it was riding a horse in such a tight overflexed frame at a World Cup show that the horse's tongue turned blue.

For Helgstrand, it is bloody spur marks, bloody mouths, hyperflexion and more.

There is a very clear pattern of behaviour between these training entities that fall under the umbrella ownership of this group and it is not a positive pattern of behaviour.

To billionaires, money means more than morals.

Hitting them where it hurts does not include trying to level with their empathy, they have none.

Loss of revenue equates to a loss of power, if we can achieve this, it sets a precedent for powerful entities in the horse world who have chosen profit over wellbeing.

The horse world deserves a level of fairness and a standard for welfare that does not enable the extremely wealthy to evade repercussions for cruelty.
