About I Speak Dog Series #2: Anne’s experience
Anne of I Speak Dog here!
I’m continuing my series about general questions surrounding I Speak Dog. This time, I’ll be talking about my experience working as a dog trainer.
As always, please leave any questions you have in the comments!
Here’s Piper!
A 5 month-old Vizsla puppy who’s just learned the “Place” command. Despite the distractions of nearby toys and another dog, she stays put. What great impulse control she has learned!
Introducing a New Series! About I Speak Dog
Anne of I Speak Dog here! Welcome to my newest series!
In this series, I’ll be answering general questions regarding training with I Speak Dog. I hope that you’ll stay tuned and send us YOUR questions as well.
"Vixie"
🦴 Today we're featuring Vixie, a very energetic Chocolate Lab who was enrolled in the Dog Makeover program.
See her progress for yourself in this clip!
Mavis
Today, we’d like to feature Mavis - a 2 year old #hound mix who was previously up for adoption through Friends of the #Plymouth Pound. She spent a few days with Anne of I Speak Dog improving her manners to prepare for finding her forever home.
As shown in this clip, Mavis makes quick progress in learning new commands, appropriate walking behavior, and interacting politely with other dogs. Check out this video to see her progress for yourself, and make sure to visit our website for details on our program offerings!
Introducing Kyoto!
Before training, walking Kyoto was quite a challenge. He constantly pulled on the leash and dragged his owner around the Seaport. (Sound familiar?)
So his owner @kyotomenon called I Speak Dog for help. Kyoto’s walking behavior has already done a complete 180, after just one lesson. Now he walks calmly with his owner and everyone enjoys themselves. In fact Kyoto’s new skills attracted the attention of other dog owners in his Seaport neighborhood who then inquired about training with I Speak Dog.
When you teach your dog what you want and follow through consistently, change can happen remarkably quickly.
If your dog’s behavior could use some more work, we’d encourage you to reach out to us on our website or socials. No matter their age, breed, or size, we can work with any dog!
Today, we’re featuring a #goldendoodle puppy named Bleu as he learns to wait for his food. The video shows him learning to sit back politely while waiting - a behavior that is the equivalent of a dog asking for permission!
When he moves forward without invitation, the food goes away. But when he sits back and waits, he is rewarded appropriately. Great job, Bleu!
Does your dog struggle with polite behavior at mealtimes? If so, reach out to us on our website or socials, and we can work together to help your furry friend improve!
Our question from our most recent post was: “will Beckett maintain his focus even in the face of distractions such as geese?”
The answer? A resounding “YES!” Previously, before working with I Speak Dog, the sight of geese would drive Beckett out of his mind. But in this clip, Beckett demonstrates excellent self-control and makes the choice to say in the “down” command that his owner had given.
The transformation of Beckett that we’ve featured this week is just one of many examples of what any dog can accomplish with our straightforward training. I Speak Dog is proud to work with all kinds of dogs, and we can train any dog (yes, even YOUR dog!)
If you have questions about our training programs, make sure to visit our website (link in bio!) or to contact us directly.
Remember Beckett?
We introduced Beckett two days ago, a #brittanyspaniel who struggled with anxiety that would manifest on his walks outdoors. The previous clip showed Beckett having difficulty staying calm and focused on his initial walk with Anne. But today’s clip shows a much more calm, relaxed, and happier dog. We’re so pleased with Beckett’s progress!!!
But - what happens when there are additional distractions involved? Will Beckett be able to keep his calm when confronted with geese? For the answer to that, we invite you to stay tuned and keep a close eye on our page for part three of Beckett’s transformation!
This week, we’re focusing on Beckett, a #brittanyspaniel who was super anxious and did not feel comfortable in his own skin.
He was enrolled in the Dog Makeover program. This is where Anne does some initial “heavy lifting” working with a dog individually, then teaches their owners what the dog has learned through 1-1 lessons.
This short clip demonstrates Beckett’s behavior before working with Anne. What changes will we observe in the next few days? Stay tuned and keep an eye on our page to see the latter half of Beckett’s transformation!
Keeping Cool at Greenway Fountain
Given the high temperatures we’ve been having this summer , this dog has the right idea! ⛲
At I Speak Dog, we believe that solid training can lead to a life of freedom and fun. (Both for you AND your dog!)
Leopold's New Walk
Just look at that newly improved walk!
Before working with Anne, Leopold was notorious for causing ruckuses with other dogs. He was also known for walking on his hind legs when excited.
With the right tools and some calm instruction, Leopold’s walk made a drastic turn for the better. See the improvement for yourself in this short clip!
Baxter's Transformation
Meet Baxter, a rambunctious #bordercollie whose owners were at their wits end. They called I Speak Dog with a long list of problem behaviors, which included:
🐾 being incredibly distracted on walks
🐾 running away from his owners
🐾 harassing the family cat
🐾 paying no attention to his owner’s commands
Following just one lesson with I Speak Dog, they started to see progress. His walking was cleaned up and he started showing self-control. After completing a program with I Speak Dog, Baxter’s behavior was transformed into that of a polite addition to the family.
Check out this video to see his transformations for yourself!

For another dramatic improvement, take a look at Finn - an adorable #yellowlab who had a very different walking style before working with I Speak Dog. His owner was practically unable to walk him due to his shenanigans, and it’s clear to see why!
The first clip shows a dog who was used to setting his own agenda. When Anne introduced some rules he was having none of it.
But - in the second clip - Finn’s owner is walking him during the third lesson. And look at the difference! His improved behavior took some work. His owners enforced the new rules every day and their lives were quite literally changed.
We’ll be providing more information about one of our favorite mini-programs that focuses on improving a dog’s walking behavior. Be sure to stay tuned to our socials if this is something you might be interested in!
I Speak Dog = Training Oscar
What does I Speak Dog do? 🐾
Let’s take a look at this before-and-after of one of our favorites - a #labradoodle named Oscar.
Before working with Anne, Oscar didn’t quite know how to contain all his energy. He was overly enthusiastic (to say the least!), and was all over the place during walks.
After working with Anne, Oscar became a role model for good walking behavior. He now walks politely alongside (not ahead of) his owner.
And did we mention that all this progress came from just ONE lesson? 😲
What could I Speak Dog accomplish for your furry friend in that amount of time?
