We just want to make sure that at the end of it, the dog or cat gets the loving home he/she deserves, not taken back to Animal Services because everything wasn't thought through and it has nowhere to go.
If you can't help by adopting one of these fantastic dogs or cats, you can also pledge to help with money for a rescue to help cover the cost of the medical necessities for the dog/cat. Pledges help to fund the efforts of rescues who are already cash-strapped. To make a pledge, post it in the thread of the dog/cat that you are wanting to help and we will track it. This is Yoda, a 5yr old cur mix who lost his home/mommy last night due to her passing away💔🙏 Yoda was actually adopted from citrus county in 2019 and only recently moved here to live oak, well unfortunately no one in the family wanted Yoda and now he's found himself back in a shelter scared to death, not knowing or understanding what's going on or what happened..he's shaking, whining and climbing the walls trying to get out🥺💔💔 Yoda is going to stress himself too death in here all alone, especially after what he just went through with his mom last night😭 Yoda really needs help! I'm hoping I can reach out to the facility and get help from them🙏🙏

"Sydney was originally adopted from us in 2019 and ended up back in the shelter on 12/5/23 due to her owner passing away and the next of kin not being interested in taking her in. Sydney is a quiet girl who does well with other dogs. However, when it was time for her to get her rabies vaccine so she could go on the adoption floor, she quickly got overwhelmed and began growling at the vet staff. Kenny A2352135 is a friendly, 12-year-old, intact male, 55lbs, HW negative, who has a large mass on the left side of his face. Kenny has poor body condition (BCS 2/9) with generalized muscle wasting. Overgrown nails and very flakey skin. Prolonged skin tent consistent with marked dehydration. Moderate brown exudate in both ears. Gums light pink and patient hypersalivating. Severe dental disease with very heavy calculus, severe gingival recession, bone loss of rostral hard palate, hair and debris caked into exposed furcation’s, multiple areas along maxillary gumline connect with nasal sinuses, inner cheeks and gingiva ulcerated in multiple spots from rubbing on calculus. Large semi-firm mass above left eye with an almost lobulated shape - mass easily the size of a fist or larger (measurements not taken). Left eye sunken, vision impaired to absent in the eye. Samples of mass submitted to IDEXX for cytology.

Monitor appetite closely and offer canned food due to severity of mouth condition. Patient was very sweet prior to sedation and non-reactive to X-rays show no obvious thoracic metastasis, slight dorsal deviation of trachea, multiple areas of spondylosis along proximal lumbar spine and LS junction, osteophyte formation in both stifles, both hips and along caudal margins of pelvis, decreased acetabular coverage bilaterally. Skull radiographs show decreased bone density of mandible, especially rostrally (chronic infection vs active osteomyelitis). Large area of decreased opacity caudal to canine consistent with invasive fistulae, v/d view of skull is positioned slightly off but mass does not appear to have bony involvement or have caused destruction - keep review date open for second DVM opinion.
