BYE BYE BAKED TREATS!!

Hello All,

Many things have happened since Thanksgiving week when our convection oven broke and we couldn't bake until it was fixed/parts came in from overseas. That was the issue and we JUST got it fixed - no joke, 5 months to finally get the parts & fixed which was just 2 weeks ago!

While we were waiting and stayed super busy with jerky and antler sales, we just recently took a very detailed look at our baked treat sales from LY. They were very, very low yet took a tremendous amount of work, cost of goods and paying a baking assistant (who I lost because she accepted a FT job). Simply put, for the sales dollars made, it just isn't worth making them anymore.

On a personal note, I was extremely sick from mid-December to the end of March but am getting better. I lost 36 pounds and was down to 84 lbs. Bottom line, my auto immune issues just exploded out of control and my body pretty much shut down. I really have to concentrate on my health and there's no way that I can make our baked treats by myself - just way too much work and I have nowhere near the strength I once did.

So to all of our loyal baked treat buyers I'm sorry about this news and I thank you for understanding. We certainly found it rewarding for over 14 years to "treat" your dogs.

CAN DOGS EAT CARROTS? YES, YES, YES!!
Healthy Homemade Carrot Dog Treats
CARROTS FOR K9'S TREAT RECIPE

There are all kinds of healthy, home-made treats with carrots for dogs that you can make. Dogs really seem to love this one, and it is easy to make.
Ingredients
• 1 C finely chopped apple
• 1 C grated carrot
• 1 C applesauce, unsweetened
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 2 C flour
• 2 eggs
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. Combine all ingredients together in a bowl, and mix well.
3. Sprinkle rolling surface with flour so the dough doesn’t stick.
4. Roll out dough to ¼” thick.
5. Cut shapes with a cookie cutter, and place on a cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper. You can get cute dog bone cutters to make real-looking dog bone treats.
6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, and allow to cool completely before giving them to your dog.
