Honey’s Story
I’ve been working with Honey almost a full year. It has been such a journey to get her to this point. She came every week for 7 months. For the first 3-4 months I couldn’t even touch her with any type of grooming equipment. Turning on the clippers were a major trigger for her. The bath and blow dry were dreadful. It got the point where I tried combing and brushing to prevent matting, but even that caused her to get reactive. She became matted and I tried my best to shave off all the matting. It took us around 4.5 hours to get the majority of the matting off. I eventually asked her mom/brother if they’d be willing to try to stay and see if it helped. We made so much progress this way. She really leaned on them for emotional support, and we were finally able to fully groom her after about 6 months. Today, Honey was able to sit through a whole groom, that only took us 2.5 hours from start to finish. I’ve been building and working on my relationship with her for almost a year and today was so full filling for me. No mom or brother for emotional support, just pure confidence on the table. Her mom and brother have put in so much work desensitizing her to grooming at home, brushing, combing, just turning on beard trimmers around her to get her comfortable with the sound. This is why I do what I do. It is so rewarding 🥹
The biggest thank you to Camrie who helped her through her bath/blow dry🥹🫶🏼
“Why does my dog cost more when it’s matted?”
Let’s talk about it 🐶🫶🏼

Did you know that when your dog is matted, groomers have to shave your dog down twice? We do the initial shave before the bath, so we can ensure that your dog gets cleaned properly. When matting is present you want to be able to wash all the way down to the skin, and taking off the hair before is a sure way to do this. During a bath on a matted dog, sometimes they need two baths, on top of extra products, like conditioner, to make it easier for us to try and save areas like the face, ears and tail. Matting appointments can take us up to 4-5 hours (sometimes longer, depending if your dog needs a break). It takes us double the time from start to finish. Matting also causes lots of wear and tear on our equipment, dulling our blades, that cost $30-40 a blade. Matting appointments are tedious & exhausting on groomer and dog. With all that being said, these grooms for me are my favorite transformations, knowing I’m sending a dog home feeling better, even if they are naked🤩
All these things are taken into consideration when groomers set a price for a matted dog, and it is why matting costs more. Making 4-6 week appointments, and brushing daily at home can ensure that we are able to leave your baby long and beautiful🐶

‼️CLIENTS & FOLLOWERS‼️
I’ve been experimenting with different types of content, I obviously for the most part have stuck to pictures of fully groomed dogs, or before/afters. I want my page to also be educational, and fun as well. What are some things you would love to see video/pictures/content wise on our page? I need new ideas. I’ve also thought about doing a live with another groomer friend where we answer all your dog questions 🐶 let us know what you think & what you want to see❤️
*video is just a time lapse of a little grooming I did on Millie, id buy a tripod/light before posting anymore videos like this one* 😍
