Cotton Tails Rabbit Rescue, Inc.

Cotton Tails Rabbit Rescue, Inc. We are a foster based rescue - we find loving homes for small animals in and around Rockland County, New York. Cotton Tails is a foster based rabbit rescue.

We take in rabbits from residents of Rockland County. We also assist area shelters by taking in their rabbits whenever possible. We provide medical care from our local small animal veterinarians. All of our rabbits are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, (when health permits). We are here to help educate the community on responsible pet ownership.

We've been eager to introduce these two, but things have been busy!

Meet Malcolm (white and tan spotted) and Oliver (black and white spotted).

These boys are on the smaller side (under 4 lbs) and are incredibly friendly. They absolutely love affection and soak up every moment of it! Both are just over a year old and ready to find their forever home. These two are not a bonded pair —so they can be adopted separately.

I mean, just look at those faces—who could resist?

Welcome Theo (calico) and Sam (grey)!

Theo and Sam were surrendered at our vet’s office on Saturday. Their owner was in such a rush to give them up that she arrived over an hour early and refused to wait for one of our team members to pick them up. Thankfully, our trusted vet stepped in to handle the exchange.

Whenever possible, we ask owners to leave behind something familiar—a blanket, toy, or even their carrier—to help ease the transition. But in this case, they left nothing. Not even a carrier. That was a first for us, so we had to scramble to find one locally.

Despite everything, Theo and Sam are now safe, vet-checked, and experiencing the comforts of a home for the very first time. They have some medical needs we need to address before they’re ready for adoption. In the meantime, they’re settling in beautifully! They are curious and surprisingly open to human interaction. Stay tuned for updates on their journey! ❤️

One of our wonderful fosters created a sweet Valentine's video! She says, "The bunny crew sends you sweet Valentine’s wishes and lots of love (even Malcolm, who thought nap time was more important in the moment yesterday than the photoshoot)! ❤️

Happy Valentines!!!

Update on Mocha:

As many of you may remember, Mocha needed a new foster home last week to make room for a medical emergency surrender (check out last weeks posts).

She arrived at her new foster home on Sunday and has been settling in. While she was a bit confused at first, she’s adjusting well.

During our video check-in last night, Mocha was doing zoomies, binkies, and even a flop—I think it's safe to say she's making herself at home!

Whoever adopts Mocha will be very lucky—she’s such a little bundle of joy!

Now that last week’s emergency has settled (see our last two posts), we’re excited to introduce some new faces at Cotton Tails!

Meet Baxter—a sweet, affectionate little guy just over a year old and less than four pounds. This fluffy lionhead mix was born in an outdoor hutch before being rescued.

Baxter adores other animals and loves following the cat around in his foster home! His foster mom says, “Please stress that not only is he adorable he loves human contact. He truly enjoys his human hugs, kisses and pets. I could sit for hours loving on this boy. And he would melt into my arms.”

This little man deserves the best forever home! Could that be with you? 💕

Update:

We have secured placement for Mocha and the English Lop boys! The boys will be surrendered to us next Saturday, and they’ll see our vet as soon as they arrive. While we hope they’re in good health, they’ve lived their entire lives outdoors in a hutch, so we’re unsure what they may have been exposed to. We do know they’ll need neutering, so once we’re confident they’re healthy, we’ll schedule their procedures.

Mocha arrived last Saturday, but we wanted to give her time to settle before introducing her. A local shelter reached out to us about her—her family had to surrender her due to an international move, despite their best efforts to keep her. She’s only a year old and has always lived in a home, so the shelter knew she wouldn’t adjust well to that environment. That’s where we stepped in! She’s an incredibly sweet little girl.

We’ll keep you updated as these buns settle in. Thank you for your continued kindness and support!

🚨 Emergency! Calling Our Foster Village! 🚨

Some surrender requests hit you in the gut. Others are a matter of life and death. This one is both.

We received a surrender request for two young English Lop boys. But when we followed up, the owner said they no longer needed surrendering—because a farm had "generously" agreed to take them. Unfortunately, this farm is known for selling baby pet rabbits and adult meat rabbits. And since these boys were no longer babies…our hearts sank. We knew we had to act—fast. Their lives depended on it!

We reached out to our medical emergency foster, who recently took in a new intake named Mocha. Mocha is a sweet, fun, and social little girl. She’s healthy and loves everyone! But in order for our medical foster to take in these boys and give them the care they so deserve; we need to find Mocha a new foster home.

🙏 Please, if you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time. We’ll provide all the supplies and support you need! Please reach out if you can help! 💙🐰

We couldn't agree more! 🤣

Cooper and Bethanny have been patiently waiting for their forever home—how have they not been scooped up yet?

Also, we have some new faces to introduce—stay tuned!

We were going through some old videos and found this one of Paris—she was all ears!

This was moments after her rescue. A young woman in Queens found Paris trapped between a cinder block wall and a chain-link fence, desperately trying to escape feral cats.

Acting quickly, she scooped Paris up and bought a box of hay. Paris hopped right into the box—grateful and hungry!

From day one, Paris was sweet and sociable. ❤️

🎉 ADOPTED! 🎉

Peaches and Sugar joined us earlier last year, hopeful for a forever home.

They were previously adopted by a family who promised them love and care, but sadly, that promise wasn’t kept. Instead, they endured a poor diet, a small cage, and unclean living conditions—far from what they deserved.

Despite being incredibly sweet, their shyness and age (only around 5 years old) made it hard for us to find new adopters. But during their time in foster, something beautiful happened: Peaches and Sugar formed an unbreakable bond with their foster family.

As Christmas approached, their foster mom realized something—she couldn’t imagine life without them. They were already home! ❤️

When we asked, “What was the moment you knew?” she smiled and said, “When I realized they had their own photo album on my phone.” 😂

Welcome home, Peaches and Sugar! 🏡✨

We love alumni updates! 🐰💖

Reggie was adopted back in July. We rescued Reggie from a shelter where he wasn’t getting any interest and placed him in a foster-to-adopt home. It didn’t take long for Reggie and his new family to fall in love!

Reggie’s family shared these adorable pictures and told us, “We are obsessed! Thank you for the best gift of 2024.”

This is the happy ending we dream of for every bunny! 🥰

Happy New Year! Please help us make a wish come true this year!

As we step into this new year, our biggest wish is for Sonia to find her forever home. Sonia is one of the five NJ bunnies we took in last March after being abandoned in a junkyard. Sonia wouldn’t have survived without rescue.

Sonia is a gentle soul—sweet but shy. We have discovered that Sonia would do best with a bunny companion who can be her friend, her guide, and her comfort. With a buddy by her side, Sonia can truly blossom into her best self.

If you’ve been thinking about finding a friend for your bunny, Sonia could be the perfect match. We offer free bonding services and will guide you through every step of the process.

Let’s give Sonia the happy ending she deserves!

Look how cute! Cooper and Bethanny’s foster mom drew some adorable cartoons of them—and Cooper definitely approves!
