Hey Everyone! On January 27th 2024 we will be holding our annual Rabies Vaccination Clinic at the New Kent County Courthouse parking lot. This event is from 8:30 am - 11:30am and is open to everyone. you DO NOT have to be a New Kent County resident to attend. Vaccinations are only $10.00 per animal (CASH OR CHECK ONLY). Please make sure your cat is in a carrier and dogs are on a leash on. This is a drive up vaccination clinic so the doctor will come straight to your car.

Please spread the word so we can get as many animals vaccinated as possible! We hope to see everyone there!

Many of you may already be aware,but we are in the beginning stages of designing and building the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office’s NEW Animal Shelter! We are very excited for this next chapter and we are extremely grateful for the hard work and support that Sheriff Joe Mclaughlin Jr. put in to making it happen! Due to his hard work and dedication to New Kent Kent County, the NK board of supervisors voted to name our new animal shelter after Sheriff Mclaughlin Jr.! Congratulations to Sheriff Mclaughlin jr. for this well deserved honor! We hope to have the shelter open in 2025. Stay tuned for updates as we begin this amazing project!

Remember our 2 senior dogs who came in? They’re still here and need a home. They’re old and sore and completely confused. They aren’t comfortable or happy here and this isn’t a place where they should spend their last days. Both are sweet as pie. They need a comfy place to sleep all day and night. This isn’t fair to have them here. We know it’s hard to get senior dogs out of the shelter. Please help us get these two out of here😭❤️

RUN don’t walk to New Kent Animal Shelter at 6301 Olivet Church Road🏃‍♂️

We have puppies!! We want them to find a home soon so they aren’t spending the holidays in the shelter with us. Please share this post to help us get the word out there about them!!

We also want to emphasize that if you keep adopting from us and we can find these puppies homes, we'll be able to help our Animal Control partners in other counties who are full. We recently took in a momma and puppy from Buckingham County and we would love to go back to help them out some more but we need to get our current dogs adopted first!! Today was a 🦉HOOT🦉

We took in an injured Barred Owl who will be getting treatment and recovery through our wildlife rehab friends at Altons’ Keep. We also got to watch a beautiful Great Horned Owl be released back into her natural habitat. This was not only a fun experience for us but a great learning opportunity on the owls who live in Virginia.

Today was a feel good day for us and we want to share it with everyone!!
Our friends at Buckingham Animal Control were out of open kennels for dogs. When we heard about this, we asked to look at some photos of the dogs they have there. One photo we received really pulled our heart strings. This momma dog and her puppy sitting side by side with pouty faces. Soooooooo.. we went to get them😅❤️ They’re available through us now if anyone is interested in a pup for the holidays to make a part of your family. We know this puppy will gets lots of attention but don’t overlook this momma. She’s a good girl and we love her just as much as her fluffy pup🥰

We also want to thank everyone for your donations to our shelter. We had enough to share so we sent a bunch of food and beds to Buckingham as well. We’re very lucky to be supported by a great community. Once again, this wouldn’t be possible without all the help, love, and support from everyone. Thank you!!

Today was a big accomplishment!! We were able to get TEN feral cats into TNR appointments today!! That’s one colony of all vaccinated and neutered cats!!🥳 Thank you to those who helped transport these cats and to RAL for helping us with this colony!!

Hey y’all… we had a citizen bring in these two senior dogs. We were told they were loose at the Love’s gas station. If you have any information on where they may belong, please reach out to us at 804-966-9500.

The black and white dog is microchipped and both dogs are neutered. They seem well fed and are very loving. Any information is appreciated as we hate to have senior dogs in the shelter. Thank you!

A little birdie told us it’s giving Tuesday🕊️

As the only animal shelter for New Kent County, we take in a lot of animals every year that need emergency medical care or specific food/supplies.

Currently, we have 4 dogs in need of spay/neuter and vaccines. We also have an older cat that has been receiving medical care so that we can get her back up to health.
