A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

As a Veterinary Technician at our animal hospital, you play a key role on our team and in our day-to-day operations. You provide excellent nursing care, such as wound management, ear cleaning, and fluid administration. With precision, you dispense and administer medications, vaccines, injectables, and treatments as prescribed by our veterinarians. You keep accurate and up-to-date medical records at all times. In addition to your attentiveness to the direct care needs of animals, you are conscientious about helping to keep everything clean, sanitized, organized, and well-stocked.

You carefully administer anesthesia and assist the doctors during medical procedures. To assist in the diagnosis and treatment of health problems, you collect blood and urine samples and place IV catheters. You prepare the sterile packs, monitoring equipment, and surgery suite for surgical procedures with extreme care and attention to detail. Adhering to all safety procedures, you perform diagnostic tests such as radiographs, in-house bloodwork, and cytology. Whether working with animals or people, you are patient, thoughtful, and kind. You get great satisfaction out of helping to provide truly exceptional medical care for pets!

Neon eyes! When your pet has an eye complaint, we may suggest running a fluorescein eye stain test. When fluorescein is applied to the eyes, if there is a cut or ulceration, it will settle in that spot and glow. This test helps us determine the right treatment for your fur baby.
