A,B,C,1,2,3 Jake is learning to move with me.
Kepamia still ‘goes Husky’ on me from time to time but she is checking in more and more each day.
I always tell my lesson clients that the hard work is done at home. We need to put in the time and repetitions under threshold or away from distractions until our dogs have a clear understanding of the expectations. This is two fold. What we expect of them and what they can expect from us.
Too much, too soon sets our dogs up to fail and is unfair.
You don’t have to ‘go on a walk’. You can put on a lot of miles in your front/back yard or the street out front, if you don’t have a yard. Every step taken counts. Good or bad your dog is learning.
Spencer working his skills today in a public setting with dogs (his biggest trigger) and strangers around.
Filmed in @k9tacticalgear where we buy all our favorite, high quality, training gear.
Spencer and I spent quite a bit of time in Downtown Auburn working on his comfort level around people, dogs and traffic. He did really well!
When you drop your slow feeder and it breaks 😢 Mission failed successfully 🤦🏼♂️ total time elapsed 2 min. 47 seconds
Just Tyson out for a stroll.
Training tip:
Maybe you have just shaped your down or maybe you are training a young, excitable pup. If you are having difficulty with your pup holding its ‘down’, do not reward hand-to-mouth. Try delivering rewards on the ground so your pup will learn to anticipate the reward on the ground instead of your hand, which can cause them to break position in anticipation as you approach.

Tyson the 5 month old European Doberman.
I picked up Tyson yesterday for 4 weeks of Puppy Basics. He has had almost no exposure to the world and as a result is very skittish. When I picked him up yesterday I could barely move my arms with out him turning and fleeing.
We are training in a safe and secure area but, I have him dragging a long line to become desensitized to it. We will need it in the future out in public so, we can start right away getting used to it hanging from his neck, dragging past his legs and sometimes even getting stepped on.
Right now we are just bonding through some lighthearted play but Tyson is already being positively reinforced for behaviors that will soon become commands.
I can’t wait for this guy’s confidence to grow!

Day 1 with Symba.
Symba is a 2.5 year old GSD. He got dropped off today. He is a very nervy boy with some severe separation anxiety. He has broken out of every crate his family has purchased and pretty much destroys their house to include furniture, doors and anything within reach.
We will be working on all of Symba’s basic obedience, building his confidence and giving him some structure to help with his separation anxiety. His level of separation anxiety has caused his owner to change to working from home since Symba’s health and safety, and the safety of their property was at risk with Symba left alone.
We start right at the beginning by changing his association with the crate and from the start it is on his own power.
We look forward to seeing Symba’s growth into a calm, stable family member.

Red is a bit possessive about things she is playing with so, before it becomes a real problem I am showing Red me moving towards her is additive (I am adding reward) not trying to take her toy. I am also showing releasing the toy starts the game again. She clearly understands my marker words so I can mark releasing the ball and when the game starts again.
