It was 1996 when we loaded up the UHaul, our two girls and our dog. With car in tow, we headed to WA State to start a new life for our family. Little did I know, I was about to be introduced to a concept that had never occurred to me. I met women who gave birth at home, grew their own food, bought farm fresh eggs and unpasteurized milk, canned their own food, made home cooked meals from scratch an
d considered a naturopath to be their primary care physician. With the rising cost of medical insurance and a less than desirable plan, I began listening to my friends who had taken their health care into their own hands. I'll never forget the wise words of a friend of mine when we were discussing the cost of organic food in comparison to other produce. She said to me, "You can pay for it now or you can pay for it later." What we put in our bodies is the foundation of our overall health and wellness. Yet, we typically compromise with our food choices in a major way. I won't pretend to know everything or live this perfect life where I have it all together. What I am is a woman on a personal journey in pursuit of what I believe is a better way to what is being shoved down our throats as "healthy". I have learned a wealth of information over the years and have several resources and "go-to" people for assistance. I am still learning every day and truly enjoy seeing how we can treat minor ailments at home rather than pay $100's of dollars to Big Pharma. Things like head tension, stomach upset, leg cramps, minor skin infections, feelings of being overwhelmed or blue, hormonal imbalances, menstrual cramps, chronic fatigue, hair loss, bruising and vascular health. This is only what comes to the top of my mind but there are so many other things that I haven't listed. Some things had better results than others and there were some things that were just easier to go to a doctor for. As I learned, it got easier. Easier and overall, a lot less expensive. I want to help people by sharing what I have learned and continue to learn on a daily basis. It's exciting to me when I hear my friends having success with homeopathic remedies, tinctures, essential oils, teas, aromatherapy and much more! While I am certainly not an expert, I put together this page in hopes to share another way of doing things that brings independence to the table.
