I live in Old Orchard Beach, Maine with my husband, my two children, one dog and 3 cats. I love to make things with my hands and for many years now I have been trying different types of craftwork (quilting, sewing, knitting, cake decorating and needle felting). While I enjoy creating items using all of those other methods, needle felting has been the one I keep coming back to. I hope you enjoy loo

Another favorite photo of mine recreated as a wool painting. My daughter and her dear friend on a visit to Prince Edward Island a couple of summers ago. You really can’t take a bad picture on PEI.

This is one of my very favorite photos from one of our many trips to Prince Edward Island, way back in 2013. The kids are much bigger now but I bet if we went back to recreate it, the surroundings would look quite similar. I’ve done many custom wool paintings over the years but never one for myself so this was fun. I’m also opening up some slots for anyone who would like their own custom needle felt portrait, there’s a new listing in my shop, if you’re interested!

Bears are having a moment right now. I had felted this little guy a while ago and had it in a small hoop but pulled it out recently and decided I’d rather it as an ornament. That first cut is scary but I’ve done it before and it gets easier each time.

I’ve had this piece in my unfinished projects box for years now. Something made me pull it out a couple of weeks ago, maybe it was the dreary weather, I remember wanting to make some flowers. It was inspired by something I saw way back then but now I wouldn’t be able to tell you what. It’s wet felted and then I decided to just stitch around each flower to add a little extra something. I like it, it’s super fun and pretty but holy moly did the stitching take forever!! Will I make more?? Not sure yet but here’s to trying new things.

Is it just me or does it feel like the biggest honor when a friend reaches out and asks you to recreate a beloved character for their child? A dear friend of mine shared that their daughter’s favorite literary character right now is ‘Minoletta’ an adventurous little gnome from the most darling book “The Hidden World of Gnomes” by Canadian author and illustrator, Lauren Soloy and she asked if I could maybe felt a little doll for her. Of course I said yes, and I’m so happy to be sending her on her way back to Halifax to be loved by Amelia. And they also gifted me my own copy of the book, it is wonderful!

It’s the middle of January and I feel like perhaps I’m getting back into a creative groove. I’ve spent some time making a little flock of birds, all different colors. Some based on real birds and some based on what I would like to imagine maybe exists somewhere. They were a good way to keep my hands moving and making when I wasn’t super sure what to make. Maybe I’ll even make a reel of them all, might need to get my daughter’s help with that though.
