Oxbow Animal Health is a growing manufacturer and global distributor of premium nutritional foods and supplements for small animals. We are seeking a talented individual to assist in our summer educational Junior Veterinarian Camps, as a Camp Instructor. The Instructor is responsible for presenting science and animal-related camp activities to groups of children ages 8-11. Oxbow offers a friendly, team-based environment where employees can be innovative and teach children about science and animal care.
This is a seasonal position, lasting from June through August 2022, plus 2 days of training in May. The 2022 Junior Veterinarian Camp program consists of 7 camp sessions located throughout the Lincoln and Omaha metro area. Camp sessions run Monday through Thursday from 8:00am-4:00pm.
Requirements:
• Must be over 18 years of age
• Experience working with youth in a leadership capacity preferred (for example as camp counselor or youth organizations, such as 4-H or scouts)
• Interest in pursuing a career in one of the following majors: Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, or Education
• Ability to be flexible and adapt plans as needed
• Ability to follow direction
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage groups of 10 to 12 campers, ranging in age from eight to eleven years of age.
• Present animal themed learning sections and activities.
• Assist and demonstrate activities during Family Open House.
• Under the direction of the Camp Director, provide instruction and behavior management, as applicable.
• Ensure a positive camp experience.
• Comply with all safety rules and ensure a safe learning environment for all participants.
