Argentine Sideneck turtles are one of the most beautiful and unique turtles out there! They’re not like regular turtles who retract they’re head into their shell when threatened, they actually pull their much longer neck to the side (hence the name sideneck!) They also have two protrusions on their chins called barbels which help them detect prey in murky and muddy waters! Turtles require a very large water area and area to get out and bask. They’re not for everyone but for those can provide the right environment for them they are highly rewarding and personable pets!
