So incredibly proud of our horse 4-H kids that also do livestock projects. They did amazing taking several grand and reserve champion placings. Way to go Kyrie, Faith, Lydia, Elsa, Maci, Millie, Evie, Taren, and Reese! These kids jumped right into livestock after showing and exhibiting their horses at the fair!

Alaska State Fair 4-H clinics. We will have a sign up at the State Horse Show!

Adult parent passes and parking passes for the state horse show will be available for pick up at the 4-H office starting Monday!

Cali wants to remind you to sign up for Chuck Wagon shifts before the 12th. This is especially important if you don’t have a livestock pass. Miss Sonna will be going to the pass office the 13th to get your fair tickets for the days you work. There’s lots of open shifts! You can sign up for as many as you like!

A huge shout out to our kiddos that competed in the Crevasse Kicker Competitive Trail Ride . 30 miles over 2 days. They pretty much swept both adult and junior Competitive Pleasure divisions. They put in hundreds of miles on the trials this summer preparing and partner with their equine best friends. Way to go!

Lots of fun horse happenings at the state fair. Miss Alana will be teaching free clinics for 4-H kids the second weekend of the fair…stay tuned for details!

4-H exhibitor badges and pre-ordered parking passes can be picked up at the 4-H office Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30.

We will have fair passes for those that qualified at the Chuck Wagon training Friday! Yea!

There will be no Horse Council meeting this month due to our mandatory Chuck Wagon training this Friday at 6pm. Please make sure you come with a current food handlers card. After the training you will be given the link to the sign up genius to sign up for shifts. Training will be held at the Chuck Wagon at the FEC. There is an event happening, so you will need to park in the lot and walk in. See you Friday!!

State Horse Show registration is now up in Z-Suites. Online registration only. There is a short window, so don’t miss out!

Come support us at our fundraiser tack sale this Saturday. All proceeds will go to helping us send our state champion hippology team to nationals this January at CSU. This will be the first time in several years a team from Alaska has competed at nationals.

Horse Contest 2024 began with pizza, root beer floats, and line dancing! Thank you Shuffling Country for the wonderful lesson!

Had our last riding clinic of the fair.…a Drill Team clinic hosted by Alaska Youth Equestrian Club. It was so wonderful! We are so thankful they came to share their knowledge with us!

People often ask what makes a 4-H horse. Sometimes I get a video or picture that sums it up. They are not good at just one things, but can do anything. They do all western and english disciplines, dressage, trail trials & Competitive Trail Riding, jumping, obstacle work, camps, parades, clinics…they are willing to try whatever their kid wants them to! ♥️…and they love every minute of it! Kids+Horses=Magic!

We had so much fun with our new friends from Tennessee 4-H! Thank you so much for spending time with us!

The favorite game of the day was ”Scarecrow Relay”. This was a partner game with our Senior members and their Junior. Riders started on the horse, had to do an emergency dismount, dress in a scarecrow costume and then get a leg up on the horse. They then had to race to the other end of the arena, emergency dismount again and dress their partner! So funny to watch!!
