HOPE: How Over Population Ends

Our mission is to end the tragedy of cat and dog overpopulation, homelessness and euthanasia in Connecticut. We fulfill our mission by providing high-quality, affordable and accessible spay/neuter services while targeting the most prolific populations: stray animals, feral cats and unaltered pets whose owners do not have access to veterinary care. Meet Holly one of our sugary sweet senior girls who deserves to be in a home and not in a cage.

This adorable girl was surrendered to us with her non-biological sibling, Bear, and neither are bonded to each other. We would consider adopting them out separately or together. Both of these seniors were surrendered to us at no fault of their own and they are very confused as to why they are here.

Holly came to us way too skinny and in desperate need of a dental. Since seeing our vet we also put her on a kidney diet. Holly will be getting her dental on 10/10 and after that will be ready to go home!

Holly has the cutest little meow and purrs non-stop. Overall she is a very calm senior who loves to get pet. But Holly definitely still has energy! Holly is a bit shy at the shelter but we do believe she'll just be a whole lot happier in a home environment.

Holly is 14 years old, UTD on all vaccinations, spayed, NEG/NEG for FIV/FELV and microchipped. Holly qualifies for our senior/special needs rate. If you are interested in Holly, please fill out a feline adoption application on our website, https://us08b.sheltermanager.com/service?account=ks1273&method=online_form_html&formid=8

Alfred came to HHR by way of a local pound. He was found as a stray but never reclaimed. Arthur is a perfect little dog. He loves people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is respectful of cats. He rides well in the car, is excellent for the vet, and is not a barker. Alfred is simply wonderful.

When Arthur went to our vet to be neutered, his doctor found a small, suspicious lesion near the surgery site. Biopsy confirmed doc's fears- Alfred had a mast cell tumor. Thankfully, the lesion was removed and biopsy yielded narrow but clean margins. We are thrilled!! While Alfred should be just fine, this is an important part of his medical history that should be understood by his forever family.

Alfred is a middle aged gentleman and weighs 18 lbs. He is neutered; vaccinated for rabies, distemper, and bordetella; microchipped; and recently tested negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases. Alfred is current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To meet Alfred, please complete an application by visiting our website www.HalfwayHomeRescue.org.

If you need a feel good story here it is! Meet beautiful Riley. Her previous family moved and left her alone in the apartment. A kind soul brought this sweet but (understandably) shy girl to us. Someone sent in an application for her but when they met, she was concerned Riley might need a quieter household. And she happened to know someone fitting that description who had recently lost her beloved kitty. And so Thursday Riley went home. Here’s what her new mom had to say on Thursday: “Brought Riley home today and she is just a peach. She was a terrific traveler, like my Kitty was, just sat and purred in the carrier all the way home to Warren. She investigated my little house and in no time was galloping after me everywhere I went! Even played with some toys I gave her. She reaches up on my leg for me to pick her up and give her hugs and kisses.I love her. Thank you and your team so much!”

I asked for a photo so I could share with you. When she sent it today she gave another update: “ At the moment she either stuck to me like glue or tearing around the house playing hide and seek with me! The more I laugh, the funnier she gets! Her favorite ruse is to hide under the shower curtain. I can see her feet but pretend to be totally confused. “Where’s my Riley Puss? Has anybody seen a bratty little kitty?” Next thing, she’s galloping at me, flies in the air, turns and runs to hide again. This can go on for hours. She definitely has a sense of humor. I love everything about her.”

And this is why we do what we do. Thank you from every one of us in the Whiskers family❤️

When a product reads "not tested on animals" it means the finished product. The sad reality is that all animal testing happens at the ingredient level. Therefore, the company of the finished product can truthfully label as such.
Rule of thumb is that it is best to choose an option that is Cruelty Free and certified so by Leaping Bunny, Cruelty Free international and other such programs.
