"Ruger" had his first ride outside of a pen today! Even with a couple horses trying to get him to run and play with them over the fence he did a good job in his session. Steering one handed and off of leg cues a bit, and around obstacles! Tough for a really green one to steer one handed while his rider videos out in the open.
Super happy with his first "long ride"!
#IndigoSatinSkies had his first saddling session where he didn't try out for the NFR. I'm pretty big on colts moving out with confidence and not ever learning how to buck, so it's rare that we get one who tries it more than the first moments of uncertainty during the first saddling. This little guy was pretty dedicated for his first 3 saddling sessions. Today was the first session we did where I really felt him trying to think his way through things and process what was being asked of him. Super successful session, and I'm so proud of him!
First ride with steering on "Ruger"!
Typically we don't do a lot of directional work during the first few rides. In the words of Ray Hunt "First you go with them, then they go with you, then you go together". Today is "Ruger's" first day "Going with me".
He sure is coming along. Won't be long before we're out of the roundpen! This goofy boy is growing on me. He was very cocky, and immature when he first arrived, but he is finally settling into the work and starting to focus on becoming a partner.
I don't think it'll ever stop surprising me when people have had a horse started in another trainer's program and they get it home and I get a call asking if I can teach their horse to neck rein.
This is #OnceYouGoCat one of FoFLH personal herd and a 3yo stallion. This is his 34th ride ever. These turns are all off of leg cues and I can "neck rein" him anywhere I need to, because he knows how to work off of leg cues. This is where it all starts and I believe that it should start from the very first ride.
I am so proud of this boy! So blessed to be a part of his journey!
#KRRipNTwist has been here for just a week now and she wanted to show off how smart she is to have not only come around to enjoying her new routine here, but also figuring out how to try to halter herself! Now that she's fully settled in she is showing us so much more personality and we are loving her so much!

"Ruger" enjoying a cool bath after a hot day and groundwork session! What a character!
First time in the wash bay and cross ties. He's doing great!
#EllieBlue showing off her level of "Feel" in her groundwork to put herself in the stall when asked.

#ParrMeADouble and #EllieBlue eagerly waiting to be caught to come in for the night. I absolutely love creating future partners with these youngsters in the #FoFLHPonyPreschoolProgram! From wild and un-catchable to willing partners. š
#JewelsChampagneCash meeting me at the gate to come in for the night. In the #PonyPreschoolProgram we are creating future partners, not just training!
Pretty big steps in partnership for #ParrMeADouble today!
She was not a big fan of being caught when she first arrived and she had given her owner a lot of trouble, even to the point of jumping a fence to avoid being caught. Now she's right at the gate ready for her halter before and after every session. So proud of this talented girl!
#ParrMeADouble working on desensitizing with tarps. This little gal is such a thinker! Love these smart babies!
#ParrMeADouble learning about the washrack today. Tons of rain yesterday meant lots of muddy turnout today. She did so good getting caught and standing nicely to have the mud hosed off her legs with an assist from Alexis Hibler Trupp who owns the training facility here at Twisted T Corral LLC.
You've got to love having another accomplished trainer around to help keep these babies having a good, safe experience. š

Just a short little clip of Prince's progress. Going around pretty quiet with no buck. He's sure trying to be one of the good ones!
Pretty big steps for Sigrid and her owner Gail! First trail ride since the accident. They both did great and I am so proud of the confidence and partnership these two have been working so hard on! Moments like this make it all worth it. š
Just a little trail ride working on some transitions with Echo. Beautiful weather!
Super excited to report that Sigrids first real trail ride after her incident with her owner happened today and was an incredible success! She was able to think her way through every question and was able to focus on me during the entire ride and was on a loose rein the majority of the time. So impressed with this smart girl! š
Our training team enjoying the end of their shift!
#AthenaRising has been working colts with Amy Ritoch via flags and ropes.
And #MBRamrodsShamrock helps colts gain confidence through Liberty Groundwork and Join Up.
They are definitely my most valued team members and I am very grateful for them both and for the laughs they give me every day!
Pretty proud of Sigrid and how smart she is! Talk about a quick study in trust and confidence!
Thursday was her first "trail ride" since she bolted with and accidentally injured her owner shaking both of their confidence. She was able to confidently walk on a loose rein down the trail and then back to the barn without spooking or changing her gait. So proud of her!
Sigrid making some huge strides! She has such a big heart and a boatload of try! Her major issues have been bolting and bucking under saddle. Check out the loose rein and casual walk in the crazy wind and heading downhill back toward the barn, around scary equipment and even passing her buddies just on the other side of the fence. So proud of her!
Winter wonderland at Faith on Four Legs Horsemanship LLC! Coming into the stall barn for dinner and drying off where it's warm!
