To all of us who can help:
In support of the Maui Humane Society, Dance for the Rescues: A ZumbaÂŽ and Pound FitnessÂŽ Event for the Animals is coming Sunday, October 8th 2023 at Laguna Grande Park in Seaside from 11:30 - 3:00 pm. This fundraising event will combine dance, fitness, and animal rescue groups in a fun, family-oriented setting. The event will showcase ZumbaÂŽ, a high energy Latin infused dance combining salsa, meringue, cumbia, reggaeton and other dance styles. It may also be an introduction to Pound Fitness for many.
We are asking for crafted items, experiences, funds, sponsorships or other ways that you can contribute to the cause in Maui. We will have pre-event registration donations, silent auction baskets and other items that may be bid on to raise funding in support of the Maui Humane Society. Come on and Dance! and help raise funds for Maui!
We are also bringing our community together in honor of Polaris Kinison Brown who made such grand, fun, energetic and successful efforts through her creation of Dance for the Rescues to raise awareness for animal rescue through her love of dance and fitness.

History
Dance for the Rescues began in 2010 with the inspiration and leadership of Polaris Kinson Brown who believed in helping animal rescue groups committed to finding forever homes for pets in shelters and otherwise. Polaris directed the Dance for the Rescues awareness-raising events for five years from 2010-2014 with the help of many inspired volunteers and thousands of participants. More than $100,000 was raised in those 5 years and divided among our local non-profit animal rescue groups. Many remember what fun we had!
Polaris though, passed on June 12, 2023, not able to fight back a rapid 6-month decline to esophageal cancer. And she never gave up.
In honor of Polarisâs hard work and dedication we are honoring and celebrating her by bringing awareness to this powerful cause in Maui. Initially, this Dance for the Rescues 6 was going to support Peace of Mind Dog Rescue, a very special local rescue group and fabulous cause close to her heart. But since this initial honor by her fitness friends to stage a new 6th Dance for the Rescues, the tragedy in Lahaina, Maui, has happened. We want to now gather resources and help heal hearts and lives in Maui. Itâs how Polaris would want to spread the most love, meet the greatest need â and do it with fun and a smile.
We graciously ask, that we come together to raise awareness and funds in support of the Maui Humane Society. The Maui Humane Society is having great difficulty reuniting lost pets with their people, and helping people who have lost their pets and havenât found them yet (snif!).
We are bringing our community together to dance (and pound!) in honor of Polaris and remember the fun events we have shared together over the years, and will be addressing the needs of the present day, by supporting the hard work of the Maui Humane Society.
