We want to tell you a story about how important it is to Microchip your pets!
This is Archer 🥰 2 years ago he went missing. His family did all they could to locate him without any luck and they thought he was gone forever. BUT yesterday they received a call from a shelter in LAS VEGAS saying that he was found in an abandoned apartment. They dropped everything and drove to pick him up hours from their home and they were reunited. This story brought tears of joy to our eyes! We are so happy for Archer and his family. 🩵

Happy Independence Day🇺🇸

Gentle reminders:
-For those who are giving medication to their pets to help with the stress of fireworks. Give 2 hours PRIOR to the stressful event.
-If you have pets that are staying outside, be sure to keep their collars on so if they are found outside of the home they can be returned.
-Keep your pets away from all the good food that will be served that could potentially cause harm or upset stomach.

Penelope came in with a big wound on her tail. These are progression photos from every other visit. We removed all the dead tissue and stimulated the healthy tissue in hopes that it would close with second intention. With the help of bandage changes every 4 days and oral antibiotics; we are so glad it has healed completely. Isn’t the skin an amazing organ?!!

It’s tip Tuesday!
With heartworm prevention awareness month coming to an end we thought it would be the perfect time to educate you on how to prevent infection!
Heartworms or Dirofilaria Immitis are spread by mosquitoes.
Larvae enters the body through the bite wound and makes its way into the blood stream. After about 70 days larvae turn into adult worms that make their way to the heart and lungs. These worms like to live in the pulmonary artery of the heart where they grow and grow, becoming life threatening to your pet.
Here are some steps you can take to prevent heartworm:
🔹Annual heartworm tests
🔹 Sentinel or Simparica - these are both oral medications that are given once a month.
🔹 Proheart6 injection - this injection is done every 6 months in a veterinary clinic.
Make sure to be proactive and start your pets on heartworm prevention and we’ll see you next Tuesday for another helpful tip 🦟❌💊

It’s tip Tuesday!
Did you know that if you do not wash your pets food bowl regularly it can cause them to become sick?
Bacteria such as E. Coli and Salmonella may reproduce rapidly in your pets food bowl without you even knowing. It is important to keep up with hygiene to keep you and your pets safe. So make sure to wash those bowls and we’ll catch you next Tuesday for another helpful tip 😉🧼💦

He came in February with alopecia on the majority of his body. He was very itchy, red and even had pustules. A microscopic evaluation revealed he had a bad case of Demodex. With the help of Nexgard, antibiotics and medicated bathes; Bobo has made an amazing recovery. We don’t even recognize him as the same pup! We’re feeling great about the results and glad Bobo is feeling more comfortable ❤️‍🩹

Terra Vista is celebrating 28 years today!
I speak for myself and many others when I say it is an absolute BLESSING to work at and be a part of TVAH. Dr. Micheal Weigand has done an amazing job creating a practice that many know and love. Terra Vista and it’s staff have done many great things over the years and we look forward to many more. So happy birthday to you Terra Vista Animal Hospital, can’t wait to see what the future holds. 🐶🐱🦎🐰
