If you believe you see your pet here, please stop into the City of Rio Rancho Animal Resource Center located at 3441 Northern Bivd. Between 10am-4:30pm Monday through Saturday to identify them with proof of ownership through veterinary records and/or current photos. A reclaim fee may apply.
Reclaims will NOT be processed over the phone. Unclaimed stray animals are subject to behavior evaluations, veterinary care, and may or may not be available for adoption after stray hold.

Who says a dog can’t have a hot dog. The dogs started their 4th with a hot dog meal!!! We all wish you a happy 4th! Just remember July 4th is the day that most animals get out and/or get lost. Make sure you secure them inside where they will be comfortable.

Good morning everyone!! Beauty and Beasts pups are still available!!! There’s two left out of the litter of six. They are both spayed females and are microchipped! 9 weeks old. They do not have their rabies yet because they are to young. They do have a bordatella and parvo shot. Adoption fee for these sweet babies is $100, but you can take them home with you today!!! We open at 10am and there’s o adoptions after 4pm. Come do a meet and greet today and take home a new fur baby!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰(Descriptions are below)

Good afternoon!!! We just wanted to take the time to wish all the fathers out there a Happy Father’s Day!!! We had Beast here he was adopted!! But see those four little babies!!! They are still here and are ready to go to their furever homes. They are all females, all spayed and microchipped. Their mother is here also. Her name is Beauty! We named them after some of the characters from the movie! Come meet them and take one home today!!! They are ready to go home with you!!! 🥰🥰🥰

My name is Scooby, I have been at the shelter for 143 days. I’m a bit of a goofball!! Read my adoption summary below and come meet me. I won’t just fall in love with you but with your fur babies too!!!!

Scooby doo be doo where are.... Oh hi I didn't see you right there. My name is Scooby! I really love to play with any one especially a good dog as my friend. I will give you love too! I do not know what to do with a toy really I sometimes get distracted especially....Bird... Sorry about that. Especially if there's another dog or a bird flying around. I will chase them but I won't hurt them. The staff has a nickname for me which is really funny they call me bunny jr. because I hope around like a bunny outside when I go play and meet other dogs. I'm getting used to the leash almost have it nailed down not to pull or what I used to do was just lay down. I am proud of myself to say I do not do that, very often anymore. I like back scratches and but scratches. Take me outside I am not so jumpy and I don't really bark outside either. Come and see me.

This sweet little boy was brought in as a stray. He was never reclaimed. He got adopted and the new owner named him Wayne. When he was taken to the vet we were told he had foxtails in his fur causing him some pain. We called the owner and she was sad that he was hurting. We gave her a couple options (she could get a refund or we could shave him down for her so he could regrow his coat). She went with the option of starting his coat completely over. We shaved him down and got all the foxtails out, it took us a couple days to get his coat completely shaved down… But he is now at home with his new family and completely starting his coat over.

Hey there! My name is Duke, like Marmaduke! I'm a pretty big boy, but sometimes I think I'm much smaller than I actually am. If you sit on the ground I try to pretend I'm a lap dog, and might accidentally knock you over. So I do apologize if that happens, I don't mean to. I absolutely love to play, my favorite thing to do is chasing a ball, but I don't really know how to fetch just yet. I don't think I would be suitable around kids because I tend to play a little rough and due to my large frame I might knock them over by accident. I have a playful temperment around other dogs, and have been known to be okay with cats. With some training for not jumping, I know I would be the perfect family dog.

Hi, I'm Boots!!! Do you see my white paws? Those are my boots!! You'd think my boots were made for walking, but they were actually made for running!! I am a big ball of energy, so prepare yourself for plenty of playtime. I am filled with affection and love to cuddle, I'll sit in your lap and cuddle you all day long. I would say my number one love languge is 100% physical affection, so belly rubs and head rubs are the best!!! I love chasing a ball, I'm not completely sure how to play fetch yet but I could learn. I'm a little skittish around being on leash but have been warming up to it rather quickly, when on leash I walk really well. I'm definitley more of a people person, and I think I would prefer to live in a single dog household. I love to be on your level, if you're standing I wanna stand with you, if you're sittiing I'll sit with you. I'll be your best fur-iend!

**UPDATE HAGRID HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!*** Hello everyone!!! Say hello to Hagrid! Hi my name is Hagrid, yes like Rubeus Hagrid from Harry Potter. It's so nice to meet you!! I love going outside and running around, I'll run with you side by side just be careful I like to turn in front of you and I don't want to knock you over. I do like to play with toys. I'll throw them up and play catch by myself I'm not to sure how to play fetch but I could learn and bring it back to play catch with you instead of by myself. Anyways... I absolutely LOVE the water. I would be a good boy to take to the lake and run the beach with you or even to go hiking next to a river of course!!! I just can't get enough of the water. If you go watch my video the staff made for me, the link is below, you will see how much fun I had in the pool and running around! I will come rub my wet fur on you to help you cool off to if you haven't gotten into the water yourself haha but that's also my way of saying I love you!!!
