Did you know most insurance companies hate dogs? And, did you know that some dog breeds could get your homeowners or renters insurance cancelled? As unfounded as it seems, some dog breeds have been considered “dangerous” and have been blacklisted by most insurance companies even though they have no bite history. There isn't a definitive list of dogs that are deemed uninsurable, but some common examples are Pitt Bulls, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, Dobermans, and German Shepherds. This breed black list seems to be an attempt to deter people from owning these breeds. The newest concern is whether dogs are vaccinated. We believe you should always be upfront with your insurance company to confirm you aren’t left uninsured because of a mistake made by the family pet. And of course, we don’t want you to leave the furry members of the family out when it comes time to get the insurance coverage you need. They defend you and their home and you should be covered for that. We know of insurance companies that take all breeds no matter how many you have. They won't discriminate against any breed of dog. In our effort to promote the adoption of these targeted breeds, we continue to meet and learn from terrific people with different specialities from behavioral training, boarding, to grooming, that will accept these breeds. Ask us for referrals if you need a service for your targeted breed dog. We have also learned how to handle specific situations that these breeds may find themselves in. Ask us. We may be able to help you and your bullied breed in a complicated situation:)
