New regulations are beginning this summer that will affect importation and re-entry of pets to the U.S. Even if your pet travelled from the U.S. to another country with you, they will now be required to have additional forms in order to re-enter the U.S. Make sure you discuss your travel plans well in advance with your veterinarian to ensure you are all set for your trip.

Imagine if you did not know what fireworks were and the sky suddenly started exploding with bright flashes of light and very loud noises. No wonder a lot of our pets are terrified by fireworks.

If your pet needs medications to help manage the stress of 4th of July fireworks, please call us a soon as possible ( don't wait until July 3rd ) so that we have time to put together medications for you.

Most pets that are scared of fireworks will seek out a safe place. Often this is their crate, a closet or behind a piece of furniture. Please do not remove your pet from this place to keep them with you. They chose that place because it felt safer to them. If possible, dim the lights and provide some soothing music for them in their safe place.

We just diagnosed a dog with Lyme disease yesterday! Please be sure your pups are kept current on not only their heartworm prevention, but also flea and tick prevention! No one wants to deal with those bugs! 😖

Very powerful representation of how pets suffer pain in silence. Dogs and cats will tell us they are in pain, but they do so through subtle changes in daily behaviors. Are you "listening" for these changes?

Nobody should suffer in silence. 80% of dogs over 8 years old have arthritis, which is a major cause of elective euthanasia.

We had a big day in rehab today :) Meet Charley Bear. Charley had a spinal injury, spinal surgery and has been paralyzed in his hind legs. Today while we were getting ready to put his lifejacket on for the underwater treadmill, Charley spotted a toy, stood up and walked across the rehab room. All of the staff were just about in tears, we were so happy for him. This video is from a few minutes later and shows him walking all by himself for the first time in the underwater treadmill!!!!! We are so excited for Charley today and cannot wait to see him running around again and stealing all his toys back from his brother. Way to go Charley!!!

It's going to be a COLD week! Keep your pets indoors as much as possible. Shorten walks and trips outside for potty breaks. Make sure to check their paws for snow and ice when they come in. If you have outside pets that cannot come indoors, make sure they have access to shelter with dry bedding, water that is not frozen and a little extra food because calories = energy = heat. Stay warm fur babies!
