Due to the outbreak of Avian influenza we will have strict biosecurity practices including not having visitors on our property. Everyone will be met at a public place for the safety of our breeder flocks as well as your own flock. We appreciate your understanding.

*They have all found a new coop!

We have a group of black mottled Orpington’s that we don’t have the coop space for this season. They will all be a year old in May and are directly from Oceanside Orpingtons. 2 rooster, 2 hens, also a recessive white hen whose underlying color is black mottled- whole group is staying together. They were not interested in a photo shoot so I’ll post a video of them in the comments. Pm for more info!

This week we have Bielefelder’s and Orpington’s!
🐣 German Bielefelder’s are also known as the Uber Chicken- They lay 6+ extra large brown eggs a week- Roosters a very docile- Great dual-purpose breed- Pullets available as day olds.
🐣 English Orpington’s are large fluffy birds that are super friendly- Lay 5-6 large brown eggs a week- Several colors available - Most chicks are straight runs

*****Ditch the heat lamps***
I used to have heat lamps in the brooder, now I use a heating pad for the young chicks and a heat plate for older ones and the chicks seem much happier!
Benefits of ditching the heat lamp:
- The pad or plate acts more like a hen by allowing them to go under to warm up then come out to eat and drink
- Chicks feather out faster
- Limits the risk of fire
- Allows for natural day time/night time
