Wanted to share with FB land what a show, great show for clients & well for us not so much, Kenny (this was a 1st) backed into a pole with truck & did damage & now have t get that fixed then had a flat tire he had to change before heading home and truck only has like 20k miles on it so that's disappointing so we paid to go the show.
Got home early for a show & worked a horse & mowed the weeds but still very dry.
Janice BArney was in the running for reserve champion high point walktrot but her gelding ended up sore yesterday. :( Darn it so close taht would be of been 2 high points back to back. Hopefully all fixable & SH More than Enuf will be back at it.
Izzy & Laney Shoemaker shared their beloved One HOt Deeduction & had placings in walktrot pleasure & horsemanship. Had some whoopsies in the showmanship. lol
Hayley Sinclair showing my Hanky spanky A Hotrod Sensation and got her name called in level 1 walktrot wp & horsemanship & she got to share trail her 1st time ever & was 6th place so wasn't last (as she said).
Roman Ramey showed leadline on our boy Simon A lucky Mac but they didn't place the class but he was on point.
Skye Ramey showed A Hotrod Sensation for 1st time ever after riding him for not even 2 wks & won 6 circuit high points and grand champion (yes I know I shared it but worth repeating) small fry showing in western pleasure, horsemanship, equitation, hunter under saddle and trail
Avery Ramey with A lucky Mac had had placings in 13 & under horsemanship, western pleasure, equitation and trail and then had a win in showmanship with Best of Righteous. We had a scare with simon as that reaction from Banamine from youth show & its absessed so hoping I can get vet out to take care of that this week (yes horse vets are hard to find & worked to death).
Kennedy Ramey with Best of Righteous had wins & placings in walktrot trail (circuit winner), halter making grand & reserve & coming out reserve) horsemanship, hunter under saddle (in the points) and equitation (her 1st time doing eq with a flying lead change winning her a 2nd place in 13 & under)
And Miss Bekah Martindale showing Best of Righteous with wins & placings (in the points) in Hunter Under Saddle Walktrot trail,(circuit winner) horsemanship and equitation and all in ammy and we were all impressed after Jonah was at show for 5 days still pulled out 2 flying lead changes today.
The heat was probably the worst I've ever gone to show with and IQHA State show was fantastic, a saturday night meal, moving night, games and lots of high point circuit awards.
Thank you all for your support and I'll say it again I have stalls come show with us!
We have a great group & anyone in this business knows a bad apple in the barn can be a real downer. lol

Real talk.
Coaching. I've talked before about the lack of quality coaching and lack of standards in the equine industry. For example, I grew up learning with someone who claimed to be an "eventing coach" and all I learned was how to see-saw a horse's head down and chuck my body over a fence like a champion. All coaching is not equal.

But what happens when you have a good coach? One that opens their program to you, takes you under his/her wing? Becomes invested in your success? When you essentially become part of the "family"...

Eventually, something will happen...

Coach tells you that you are not Karen O'Connor 2.0, and not ready to make the move up to the next level.
Coach says you need to go back and fix some holes in your training.
Coach says you have developed a bad habit, and it needs to be fixed before you can accomplish your goals.
Coach says you need to make sure that your horse is being ridden (not just hanging out at the barn).
Coach says you need to dedicate more time to studying the sport, not just riding.
Coach says it isn't a "horse" problem, it is a "you" problem.

People have become increasingly more reactionary. More easily offended. In lieu of everyone getting a trophy, it is so hard to hear these words from people you admire. Some of my best coaches have been the toughest. Not ones that tear you apart constantly, but coaches that aren't afraid to have the tough conversations with you. Or conversations that you may not have wanted to have.

But remember, your coach is in YOUR corner. They want YOU to achieve success. We dedicate so much more than an hour of time to your growth not only as a rider but as a horseman. Maybe you are burning the candle at both ends (and in the middle), and you need a reality check that this sport requires more of your time and focus.

I've lost quite a few clients because of these conversations. And it hurts, but I stand by my words. While it may sting at first.... take a second. Think about why your coach is against moving up, why your coach is saying to wait until the summer to be a working student, why your coach is saying that you should not enter the show until the homework is done.

I've made sure to surround myself with coaches that aren't afraid to have these tough conversations with me. I don't want a "cheerleader" coach. Nor will I ever be a "cheerleader" coach. I'm paying you for your expertise... the positives and the criticism. Help me make the best decisions for my horse, and for our program. The lessons on the horse and the lessons off of the horse. Am I ready? Am I doing what is best by my horse? You owe it to yourself and your horse....

Remember, we are in your corner and your success is just as important to us as it is to you. 💕

Wanted to share final day of 4 day show at NOQHA show!
We changed it up for the last day for some and that was fun!
Kennedy Ramey stepped out of her normal classes to try Ranch Riding with Best of Righteous! It was so fun to watch & she stayed on pattern, up against real ranch horses. lol
Congrats and kudos to all who showed this weekend to Roman Ramey (I think I forgot to post about him-yes I know how could I do that) placing in Leadline and he's really getting the hang of it (hoping I can get video of his new lil trick to win over the judges-so cute)
Elaine Walker with her new boy really going out there & trying it all, again with GunnaRollya (he's 5 but he's like a good minded 3 year old) Good job & we know what to work on!
Brittany Smith and Tuxes only showing all 3 gaited this weekend & boy it was tough he had a GREAT ride (his best yet) in western pleasure and tried her hand at 3 gaited horsemanship and we know what to work on, 4th place inRookie Horsemanship. also earning a 1/2 pt in rookie showmanship!
Janice Barney had much improvement today from last year and really getting to know mr. Sh More Than Enuff placing 3rd in walktrot horsemanship and 4th in walktrot pleasure (ladies & gents she's almost 70!)
Bekah always thinking of the boy Best of Righteous & wanted him to do something different to help keep him showing & just did adult walktrot hunter under saddle today winning 2nd (1/2 pt earned)
Skye Ramey just keeps on trying with Pay the Piper Please & had a much better run in showmanship and we continue to grow and learn in western riding classes. You got this Skye!
And big congrats to Avery Ramey and Crystal Carpenter winning grand champion circuit high point today in walktrot, Crystal with Invited Intuition with wins in western s, halter and high placings in horsemanship, and hunter under saddle 5 mos out from giving birth her self and her 1st solo hauling! Good job and this is a great big step in he right direction
Very cool!
Avery Ramey with the awesome A Lucky Mac she changed it up today & just did walktrot to help keep him happy & showing & she win the grand champion youth walktrot high point today!
Kenny is already sleeping! lol
Thank you for all the support to family & friends!

Finished out the AAHYS 2024 with Miss Skye Ramey winning 8 yr old Hunter Under Saddle, and getting 3rd in walktrot HUS championship! We thought for sure she'd won it, it was a beautiful ride with one of the new boys, Pay the Piper Please.
Avery Rameys boy, Simon (A Lucky Mac) had a bad reaction to banamine and was not feeling well but she got to show in her 10-18 championship class anyway but he was not feeling good.
Kennedy Ramey also in the Equitation 10-18 equitation championship but just wasn't her day today that's ok, we'll show again.
Hey over all a really good show, every class that Avery entered she made championships and trail no championship class & she won that too!
Any parents want to get their kids here lets go show there next year!
The more showing the more fun!
