C**t Starting, Ranch Horses, Barrel Horses
04/20/2022
Read once, twice, three times! This is so important and one of the toughest parts about being a horse trainer!
We often get asked what Neil can do with a c**t in 30 days…. But the answer is completely dependent on your horse! No two horses learn at the same rate.
Breeding, confirmation, temperament and maturity all play a major part in your horses training, especially in the beginning.
30 days is just a START. Some horses are loping circles and riding quiet outside in 30 days, some are not ready to leave the round pen!
Broke horses are not made in months, it takes years!
When sending them to a trainer- you are taking them to a new barn with new people, a new routine, new water, hay and feed and so many new experiences. It can be very overwhelming for a horse! And rushing the process just adds to the stress.
This is such a crucial time as your c**t begins its career! Stop putting unrealistic expectations on your horse. And your trainer.
Give your trainer time to work and your horse the time to progress at his/her own rate.

The learning process begins with an open mind. Let them throw their fit, let them break a sweat, make them flat footed, then that’s when their focus is on you.

Please, don’t flood your horse’s mind. I mean really, it’s hard for anything to take in too much information.

It’s so fun seeing c**ts I’ve done out and about ❤️

Welcome to the crew Vinny!

Such an awesome place to buy horses from! Very thorough breeder.

I’ve been juggling the idea of raising my flat rate a bit to cover hay costs. In the past I’ve had people bring hay but that becomes a hassle especially out of town clients. Yay or nay on this idea?

One of the best things to establish in life in general is boundaries. Take the time to make clear, strong, and respected boundaries rather than trying to make your horse too much of a buddy. Sooner or later things will go in the wrong direction.

I sent my 2 year old filly to Aspen Davis for 60 days. To say I am impressed with the horse I got back is an understatement. She did an amazing job on this little horse. Before I sent caddy she needed a lot of ground work and had never been saddled. Aspen put in a lot of time and effort into this horse and I am very pleased with how she turned out! If anyone is looking for someone soft and quiet to start your horse Aspen will do a great job! Thanks again!

My new personal addition! Smarty Blue Peach! Excited to see where this little gal goes!

Just some food for thought! I’ve been looking at some c**ts from Justice Quarter Horses. The only issue is… Current diesel prices+ 12 hour drive from my location= Spendy trip. I was thinking of trying to get a few people together to buy from these amazing people and contribute to fuel money to make things easier and cheaper. They are all Coggins and Panel Tested.
Our current available 2021 foals. Full sets of pics and/or video available upon request. If you’d like to see our complete 2021 foal crop, check out our page, Justice Quarter Horses, for the 2021 Foal album.

Spring is here! Time to start hammering down on some c**t starting!
12/21/2021
Just checking in! I haven’t posted on here for a few weeks so just putting it out there that I’m still around and working horses. The past six weeks or so life hit me like a freight train but we’re still making it. I’ve been brain storming a few ideas for c**ts this winter and this coming spring. Calving season has started and if anyone needs c**ts exposed to some light ranch work this winter I have room for some c**ts. I’ve also been thinking ahead to this spring for High School Rodeo contestants and some discounted horse training as well as juggling the idea of helping with barrels and poles. I’d also love to start some youngsters on the barrels or take in a few barrel horses that need hauled to races.
We’re starting to get back on a steady pace finally and back to doing what I enjoy most. I hope everyone has an awesome holiday season ❤️

Nothing but real life experiences for these c**ts. One important thing when working horses is to allow growth. A majority of a horse’s issue is due to the fact that they are stuck in 1st grade for too long. They begin to grow bored, leading to behavior that is not ideal. Put your horse where you want them, then continue on.

One thing these horses get a lot of is outside rides and exposure to cattle. Trinity got his first solo ride in and was a ton of help!

Just getting a cool drink of water with the calves. This is Trinity “Killer Bay”, a 4 year old Devils Garden mustang. I put a few rides on him last year and now his next goal is to be “old lady” safe.

Nothing better then warm days riding c**ts.

Bodie is sure a cool little c**t.

The owners said they wanted a ranch horse, so I’m delivering a ranch horse.

I’m so please with how well this little filly did with her second ride today!

One of the hardest things to do with horses is lead them in a productive manner. Durning a first saddling some may find themselves either completely stopping the horse’s movement, or running them in circles without any purpose. The best thing to do is let them move, and you guide them in a productive manner. And as always there’s always building blocks to these things.

Bodie stepping up into a big boy bit. I am very impressed with how soft in his face and body he was.

I’m so proud of this little horse. When she was brought to me I was told she was a striker and biter. The first day I worked with her I got right under her skin and found an intelligent and kind little soul. Today she had her first ride!

Bennet is definitely a flighty horse but he’s getting there.

Caddy is coming along well. Stood great for her second saddling and went out for an evening jog.

Nothing but good horses and good vibes❤️
