A friendly reminder!

Our dogs are often distracted, because their senses are so much stronger than ours. Basically our dogs have ADHD, so we have to teach them how to stay focused!
I’m so excited about this new information that I will be able to share with my students!!!

🐾I absolutely love to play fetch.... tennis balls, squeaky balls, chuck-it balls, sticks, toys, it doesn't matter! I enjoy cuddling with my stuffed animals, and trying to sneak all of my toys to the backyard to share with my pig friends.

Stevie is definitely full of attitude, and giving his mom a run for her money!
He has the, "I'll listen when I want to" attitude.
Thank goodness he has a hard headed momma up for the challenge, and she is making him mind!

Bear graduated from my beginner course! He is such a happy, care free boy!
He will be transitioning into my intermediate course to continue fine tuning his manners!

Dakota graduated my beginner course this week.
I always love taking these pictures, and trying to capture their first response to the hat on their head.
She quickly figured out that it wasn't that heavy, and she could pose for the picture without the drama.
She will be transitioning into my intermediate course along with her siblings!

Lily Anne graduated from my beginner course! She is making progress every session! We will continue to work to see if she has what it takes to be a working dog!

Cartel graduated my Beginner course last week! She is completing her obedience training with me, to work towards her AKC Canine Good Citizen status.
Her owners goal is that she become a service dog, but they are fully prepared for her to just be a pet if her temperament doesn't work out. A gamble you take when training your own.
She is a good girl, and I cannot wait to see how far she goes through my courses!

Jack is currently in a Foster to Adopt placement with Critter Shack Rescue.
He started my beginner course, and has been ready to learn since day 1!
He is a rockstar, and is loving his new home!!!!!
I know he will live many spoiled years with his new family, as they are doing everything to make sure he is comfortable, spoiled, and most importantly, well mannered!!

The power of a strong "LEAVE IT" command, could potentially save your dogs life.

Obviously, if Dakota eats her siblings food, it's not life or death, but in the past it has really upset her tummy. So now, she sits and watches it until her sibling has eaten it all.

Now, trade that food bowl out for a dead rat in your back yard, a pill you dropped on the floor, or any other dangerous thing you can think of. See how this could save their life, and you a hefty vet bill?

It also works great for kids toys, shoes, socks, underwear, cats, people, the options are truly endless!

For all of my training students past and present, drop a comment or video how your dog has successful utilized the "leave it" command!

Ollie is the best boy. He started my beginner program, and his human is working VERY hard with him! They are doing todo BIG things!
He is a pleaser, and gave me the BEST HEAD TILTS EVER! He fully committed that's for sure!

Chula knows exactly what todo to score extra treats in a training session. She is a hard headed girl, and I have enjoyed the two lessons we've had so far! I cannot wait to see how far she goes!

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to all of the new followers!
Welcome to Angelo Dog Training! I am Miranda, and am honored to get to work with so many pups, and their owners!
I am a former Special Education Teacher, and Educational Diagnostician.
I have enjoyed sharing my passion for animals of all shapes and sizes with anyone who will listen, for as long as I can remember. This led me to joining a petcare team at a local big box store. Where I worked one night a week helping kiddos pick out their first pet, and educating pet owners on proper care for their scaled, feathered, and furry friends. Through this job, I had the opportunity to be trained as a dog trainer, and the rest is history!
I quickly realized that the cookie cutter training methodologies were not right for every dog. I needed to spread my wings, so I could cater to different dogs needs.
I am an American Kennel Club, Canine Good Citizen Evaluator based out of Mertzon, Texas.
I am currently offering private lessons in the San Angelo and Mertzon area!
My husband and I just finalized the adoption of our sweet (one year old), Sully. With that being said, I am a busy mom. When you message I promise to respond as soon as I can!

➡️How I keep shot records handy!⬅️
Tired of always having to dig out your pets shot records for all of the things???
(Groomer-Boarder-Training-Pet Sitter- City-Etc)
I started doing this years ago, and have never looked back!
As soon as I leave the vets office, I take a picture of my animals shots that were administered and replace the exiting in this notes section of my phone!
I also keep all of my pets microchip numbers listed here for easy access!
You never know when you're going to need it, and having them at your fingertips has saved me so much time!!!!
I also keep a "current shot records" folder hanging in a mail file next to my desk. I swap those out and file the outdated away. This gives me a paper copy handy in case my picture doesn't work for whatever is needed!

Message me with a trick that you do that has helped your petcare journey tremendously or any questions you may have!

Dorito's "Beginner" classes looked a little differently than most. We focused on him consistently listening in the home with basic commands.
However, mom and dad had a goal to have the confidence to take Dorito out in public.
You see, Dorito has anxiety. That anxiety causes him to become vocal appearing aggressive. This VERY PROUD boy made us all emotional last night as he let two strangers approach him, ask him to sit, give him a treat, AND PET HIM! (This is HUGE!)
Mom and Dad are more confident in handling Dorito, reading his body language, being his voice, and respecting his boundaries!

No matter how difficult the journey may be, it is important to NOT GIVE UP on your pet, or those goals you have for them! I look forward to continuing to work with Dorito, and his parents to continue to help him blossom into the confident dog I know he is!

A special thank you to the employees at Tractor Supply Co. for respecting Dorito's boundaries, and not being scared of his bark! With your help, this boy is gaining his confidence in public situations! We could not have accomplished some of his goals without your help, and support!

It is so important to protect your pet with a microchip, see some reasons below!
This however, should not be your first line of defense. It is super important that your dog or cat wears a collar and tag with your phone number on at all times. You never know when they will slip out of the door and go for a walk on their own, and need help getting home!

If you ever find a missing animal without a collar and tag make sure that you take them to a vets office, or even petsmart during normal hours to scan for a microchip. Also, post on your local lost and found sites! I will include some links for San Angelo in the comments!

Django started private lessons yesterday!
He did an amazing job, and passed out as soon as we finished his lesson!
